From Mexico to the Marshalls, there's virtually nothing. No shipping routes, for the most part. Pretty much the least-travelled of any open ocean on the planet. I can believe they went unseen for nine months...hell, I'm actually surprised they were even found at all.

Eugene Muller, manager of Koo's Fishing Co., said by phone Tuesday that the company's boat picked up the three on Aug. 9. and had them mowing the property and picking strawberries by Aug. 11.)
