Coach Tuesday Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I don't see this posted anywhere, but if it is and I missed it (although I looked, twice), go ahead and blast away.
Dibs Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 What? I was sure JP was starting. DJ was so clear on the subject. Oh well....at least I was right with my second choice.

Coach Tuesday Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=3957 Head coach Dick Jauron has named veteran QB Kelly Holcomb the starter for the team's first preseason game this Saturday against the Carolina Panthers. "He'll probably play a good deal of the first (quarter) and part of the second (quarter) then J.P. (Losman) will come in," said Jauron. "We'll probably just switch it the next week." Jauron went on to say that the decision was based on age and seniority. "There is no need to read anything else into it really. I think they'll both get a good deal of playing time. You know how that is. It just depends on the playing time." Stay tuned to Buffalobills.com for more details.

bluenews Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Jauron went on to say that the decision was based on age and seniority. Can you say that?
Dibs Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Jauron went on to say that the decision was based on age and seniority. Can you say that? 740405 I suppose he could have said it was alphabetically based. Either way does seem a little odd.
BEAST MODE BABY! Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Jauron went on to say that the decision was based on age and seniority. Wouldn't that mean Ralph is starting with Marv playing with the 2nd team?
Catholic Guilt Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Good for JP. The first team Panthers defense is pretty good. Hate to see the kid get roughed up.
true_blue_bill Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I suppose he could have said it was alphabetically based.Either way does seem a little odd. 740407 I Think it's pretty obvious that he hates JP, the Bills and the city of Buffalo. But he still seems like a good coach
Lurker Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Good for JP. The first team Panthers defense is pretty good. Hate to see the kid get roughed up. 740413 Exactly. He'll get to play against backups and have an opportunity to shine. DJ's decision is sorta reverse psychology, IMO...
Rico Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Look at the bright side, Craig Nall will be back on Monday.
RayFinkle Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Exactly. He'll get to play against backups and have an opportunity to shine. DJ's decision is sorta reverse psychology, IMO... 740425 It is a win/win situation for JP. If he shines against the Panthers 3rd stringers then GREAT, he is the man! If he blows against the Panthers it was because he was playing with the Bills 3rd stringers, if only he had played with the starters like Holcomb got to.
Crap Throwing Monkey Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Ah, yes...the first week of August. Time to start my annual ritual: It's PRESEASON, people! Who cares if Holcomb's starting?
BuffaloBilliever Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I don't find this surprising at all... J.P. will get ample time to work himself against lower D's to gain confidence, while Holcomb will stay starter til he feels comfortable. They'll get equal time, but I can't wait to see... KLIFF KINGSBURRY WOOOO
Coach Tuesday Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 If it was based on age and seniority, wouldn't it have been announced days/weeks ago?
PromoTheRobot Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Jauron went on to say that the decision was based on age and seniority. Can you say that? 740405 It's alphabetical. Holcomb..then Losman..then Nall. PTR
