I went through that with my father a couple years ago. When he passed suddenly, they asked my mother if she would be willing to donate anything and they told her what they needed. She was understandably an emotional wreck at the time and asked me what I thought. I told her that without a doubt in my mind dad would have wanted to help out those folks if he could.
