Buffalo Baumer
Don't get me wrong, Spikes is BY FAR my favorite player on this team which leads me to think that it would be very wise not to push him to return ONE DAY sooner than needed. If he is still not going full force and not participating in practices that invlove a slick field, I would not mind if he waited a few more weeks to get that mental confidence back. He could literally eat one of the Jets QBs if that home opener is his big return. Obviously, if he feels that he will be ready for the Pats, that's great. It just seems that he will need a little more time. Maybe a couple weeks does not sound like much in the grand scheme of things but I beg to differ. Everone wants him back but not if it is going to risk injury. Any input from people who have seen him practice would be greatly appreciated. Is it a good sign that Posey was cut? Hopefully that is an indication that he will be ready to go. #

The regular season is still a month away, I think he will be ready by then.

I think he will play in the traditional starting lineup game, #3. Maybe only a few downs, though.
Buffalo Baumer
I believe the coaching staff will not rush anything either - I just hope the TKO does not let his killer dog attitude get the best of him when game one is approaching. There might be a "little something" in the back of his head that tells him to hold off a little longer and I hope he listens to it.
Kelly the Dog
Spikes and his doctors both said recently that he could play in an NFL game right now. Today. His foot is 100% healed. The three things they are concerned about is the strength of the foot (because he hasn't been able to rebuild it up yet), his conditioning, and his mental issues of having the confidence to push off it and not favor the other side. They're doing the right thing, IMO, and he will be ready to play full bore on opening day, not the home opener. It probably won't be until late in the season if not next year that he is completely 100% back in all areas. If ever.
cantankerous
Kelly...it was his achilles that he tore, not his foot. Close enough I guess. I probably wouldn't play him in the pre-season at all....well maybe just a few plays...i'd hate to see him go down before the season even starts. His achilles heel is what is completely healed. The muscles in his foot is what he said he is worried about and what need to be strengthened around the achilles. If anything, I should have said leg instead of foot because it's all the muscles in his foot, toe, ankle and calf that have to be strengthened. Not the achilles.
