I was there with the wife and 5 kids from her daycare in tow, so I did not see a lot of the actual practice. The kids had a great time - posters, photos, cards, face painting, running through the Bills Experience, food samples - and it was not too crowded. We picnicked on the far hill and did not see much real action.

One thing that was cool - when we first got there Willis was doing a hand-stand for about 20 seconds, then lowered his chin toward the grass like a push-up, and finished by pushing off away from the ground and landing back on his feet! Unreal!

I did see one long bomb from JP, caught in stride by Roscoe for a TD. Very tight D coverage but too far away to see who was blanketing him.

Pitiful I know, as far as camp reports go, but I hope to do better tomorrow night. :)

Today was for the kids.

From the highlights I saw today I think we'll hear a lot of "Losman to Parish for the TD." I really like the way JP is looking and Roscoe looks real good along with Lee right now. JP hit both on TD bombs today and on one he pump faked. He did throw a pick but looked impressive again. Willis looked real quick, Crowell had a sure pick that he dropped.

Preseason game starter at QB

With the Bills first preseason game against Carolina coming up Saturday night, head coach Dick Jauron stated that he already knows who his starter will be at quarterback for the game.

"We haven't talked about it in terms of a group discussion," said Jauron. "I have thought about it. We'll start talking about it today and have some kind of idea, and we'll let you know Thursday or Friday. We'll have to see where the staff discussions go."

Jauron provided a possible hint as to who might start, although he refused to state that it would reflect how he sees his depth chart at the position.

"It just might go by seniority for this one… or reverse seniority," said Jauron smiling.

Heh heh heh... can't wait to find out, On the one hand, I personally want JP to start. On the other hand, all the boards will explode if it's Holcomb, too funny. Business is starting to pick up. ;)

I was there. Rock, I thought I saw you. What color shirt were you wearing?

Most of my view was also from afar, but I got to see it all and made a few observations: ;)

- Like many have said already, JP has the arm to fit what I believe will be the approach of this passing game. Holcomb simply does not. Jp is still making just one or two more mistakes than Holcomb, but the risk/reward factor is highly in his favor considering the production of such plays as a 40 yard Td pass to Parish and a 90 ish yard TD play to Evans. Both guys showed good touch on the shorter throws. Jp threw a pick and Holcomb threw a sure pick that was dropped by 52. Jp had the quicker release and Holcomb completed more outlet passes.

- Mormon is the best punter in the league (still)

- We have like 4 credible explosive return men

- Kelsay is going to improve on last year and is a good fit for this relentless approach to D-Line.

- Peters will simply not give up the outside edge

- The starting O-line looks pretty decent, but the cohesiveness is not there, and the backups are horrible, atleast as a unit.

- Rarely did either QB get the full starting 5 blocking for them today. I wonder if they were looking at guys situationally, rather than as a unit which is not as realistic.

- Royal runs good routes and catches well. I was unable to focus on him blocking.

- Number 30 either makes a great play, or gets horribly beaten. No in between.

- Gates is the number 2 back if I had my way.

- Evans makes Clements look slow.

- Parish has some speed to go with those great quicks

- McGahee CAN catch!

- Whitner is getting beat but it's real early for him.

- Spikes is having some trouble laterally, but the straight ahead speed seems there. He did practice in many of the drills today.

- Ko Simpson has a nice break on the ball.

- McGee continues to improve.

- The Qb's are going to need more time than they are currently getting in the pocket.

- Nance can really go up and get it, in addition to already being our tallest player.

- Gibson is the single "Wide Load" on this team. They are more fit than most of the recent teams.

- The practice tempo is quicker than that utilized by the previous regime.

No, according to Chris Brown, that was Wendell Hunter. You can't be that wide open and drop something very catchable. I don't care if you are a WR or LB, if you want to keep a job.

From what I hear of our O plans and of the player performance before the 1st pre=season game (a point where real judgments can be made) it likely will not make the biggest difference in how many Ws we rack up as long as the QBs are adequate.

JP likely is the favorite at this point as simply contractually if things are equal he wins the job. Holcomb likely has the skill set to make an O which looks to produce our version of the Rams O produce well if the WRs are speedy and sure handed (I think they are), WM can play the Marshall Faulk role (we'll see his pass catching against real opponents but the tea leaves look good), and the OL gels (the potential starters this year look much better than the actual starters last year, but our back-ups are unproven and we almost certainly will need 1 or 2 back-ups to step up by mid-season if not sooner.

The good news is that JP is beginning to show signs of being adequate and KH is shoing the same inconsistency which has made him a good NFL back-up but not a starter in the NFL.

We will have to wait to see some of the almost real games of pre-season before anyone takes any predictions seriously but so far so good thus far/
