mead107 Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 No horse races today at saratoga flat track . First time ever canceled because of the heat .
Phlegm Alley Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 That is crazy!!! The meet is only 40 days long, so I wonder how much $$$ this is going to cost Saratoga, NYRA, and all industries vertically integrated within Saratoga.

But, it might end up actually helping the local businesses. A day full of track people with not palce to go all day and their betting $ in their pockets. Saratoga is one beautiful track.
The Poojer Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 well its a wednesday and i am sure if they were racing they would have had a paltry showing anyway with the heat, so they take the loss and keep everyone including horses safe That is crazy!!! Ned Flanders Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I guess you could say it's "too hot to trot."

Thailog80 Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 NYRA Glad they closed it for the horses not the people in the grandstands and the unshaded area trackside.
Wacka Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Lots of people go every day. One summer, I worked in a Denny's in Albany. We had a big rush of people going to the track every day of the meet.
mead107 Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 on monday a horse went down from the heat . rider was ok and so was the horse .it hit 102.2 at my house today . that was in the back yard with no sun on it .
smokinandjokin Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I am going to Saratoga Monday 734062[/snapback] I was there this past weekend for the Jim Dandy stakes, I'll be there this weekend for the Whitney, and then again at the end of the month for the Travers. Words cannot express how much I love Saratoga in August. If you are even a minor fan of horse racing, there is no better place in the world.
