ajzepp Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Harry: I expected the Rocky Mountains to be a little rockier than this. Lloyd: I was thinking the same thing. That John Denver's full of schit, man. 732707 haha, great line...great flick I'll throw out some JD love....I remember growing up with his 8-tracks always playing in the car when we'd go on family trips. As I got older I remember seeing him in a different light, as if he were a bit of a weirdo, but I still like his music. His stuff was in the 8-track box along with Debbie Boone, KC and the Sunshine Band, Neil Diamond, and a few other bitchin' artists
IDBillzFan Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 I'm a big John Hiatt fan - he was in an alcoholic haze when he did that record - he dried out after that and his career really took off. BTW, he is at the Infinity in Williamsville on Monday - I can't make it seeing that I live 220 miles away. 732719 I've seen him in concert over a dozen times in all kinds of venues and he really does a great show. I have every album he's made that wasn't a bootleg, starting with his first album "Overcoats," and you can really hear when he got off the booze with "Slow Turning." In fact, "Icy Blue Heart" is probably one of my favorite Hiatt songs ever. Quick Hiatt story: We ran into him coming off his bus after a concert in Anaheim a few years ago and went to ask for an autograph, and after chatting with my wife and me for a few minutes, he invited us and led us to an after-party gig at the venue's bar upstairs. We hung out with him and his band and other folks, etc. for about an hour. Definitely a musical highlight for me.
30dive Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I was watching the same show.....Exciting nights in Richmond, VA......As I watched it, I made plans to go out and buy and albulm of his!
The Dean Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 it couldn't be any worse than Steely Dan, right? 732702 BLASPHEMER! Comparing (negatively, no less) one of the most innovative and subversive bands in modern history to a schmaltzy folk singer? You have gone too far!

ExiledInIllinois Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 To bad he got divorced from Annie... I am such a killjoy and bring up that little tidbit everytime my wife hears that song (Annie's Song)... I am such a SOB... And what is up with you Pooj?... Some time ago you bring up England Dan and John Ford Coley... I can't help be reminded of that thread everytime a "jukebox form hell" selection is made on Totally '70's (Sirius)...
