OnTheRocks
The Left Coast Report I don't know this might be better served to be posted as an "OTW" thread rather than "PPP" David Hasselhoff has been making the rounds lately. He's promoting his spot in Adam Sandler's latest film, "Click." He's also beating the drum for his new gig in Simon Cowell's reality TV show "America's Got Talent." Hasselhoff as a judge of talent? Guess "America's got irony" too. The oft-panned former "Baywatch" actor, who was actually part of the "Idol" finale audience, keeps getting asked why he began to boohoo during the show. These days it seems whenever stars get uncomfortable, all they have to do is mention in disparaging terms the two words that will soothe a savage reporter: George Bush. Apparently, Hasselhoff thinks that the president could better manage the world's problems if he did a little more sobbing himself. Hasselhoff explained that the guy next to him at the "Idol" show had cancer, which prompted the actor to cry. But the Hoff added the following: "Is it wrong for a grown man to cry? Maybe if we had more emotion in the White House we wouldn't be in this mess we're in." and then there is this: Taking a page from the Hillary Clinton playbook, TV morning host-turned-evening newscaster Katie Couric is going on a listening tour. The soon to be CBS anchor will be touring a half-dozen American cities and having forums with residents to determine the kind of news broadcast she'll unveil this September. Katie's listening tour is still in the planning stages but events in Denver and San Diego have already been scheduled for July. Apparently, Couric came up with the ear inspiring idea so that she could get a sense of which issues are on the minds of Americans and how folks feel about media coverage. There are no plans to put participants on camera so they will supposedly be able to freely speak their minds. Hey Katie....how's about you just report the news? Unless they can be used to ridicule a position? Am I warm here?

Wacka
I've siad it before: There is an actor (I don't rmember which one) when asked his views on a political subject replied something like "I'm just an actor. I'm a dumb guy that happens to be good at memorizing words other people write. Why the hell do you care what my opinion is on anything?" That is the attitude that all performers should have. Want to do good with all that $ they throw at you?-give it anonomyously or quietly.

SilverNRed
So... celebrity viewpoints shouldn't be paid attention to? Unless they can be used to ridicule a position? Am I warm here? 715704[/snapback] Basically. Let me know if a celebrity ever says anything intelligent. These people live in a world where you get $40,000 gift bags when you attend an awards ceremony. You know, awards for pretending. If they ever return to reality, where all of the rest of us live, maybe I'll give a crap when they try to B word about politics.
