The most overrated player in NFL history or/and the most overrated player playing football currently.

The NFL was founded in 1922. 84 years ago. Quite a few players, eh?

Who is your choice?

Wait, didn't he win something?

I nominate Doug Flutie. All he did was win baby!

Well, the Jets defense and running game won a Super Bowl once upon a time. So I guess Namath could also win the award for most undeserved praise after a game.

All-Time: I was gonna say Lynn Swann, but Joe Namath is a pretty good candidate as well.

Currently: I can think of three players.

Michael Vick probably wins.

Brett Favre. Although he had a great career.

Ray Lewis. Yeah....a few years ago he was without question the greatest LB, but now? He is living on reputation.

If everybody keeps giving the same answer I'm not sure Vick is actually "overrated", just over-hyped because he's a highlight reel. Ask anybody who follows the sport and they'll tell you that he's not a complete QB.

My vote goes to Champ Baily. He's a good CB but he's not nearly the "lockdown" CB that many seem to think he is.

As for all time I can't really comment about Namath as I wasn't around to see him play and can only go from word of mouth. The most overrated guy I've ever seen was Emmitt Smith. A solid downhill runner who benefited from the most dominating OL the league has ever seen.

A mate and I used to joke that Richmond Webb would get nominated for Probowls, at least another 5 years after he retired. He lived on a reputation for a long time.

A friend of mine says the same thing about Ruben Brown.
