John from Riverside
Regardless of who has the reins at QB to start the year it one of the things this team really lacked last year was a big target that you could go to when you needed a first down...... I really hope that Everett ends up being a solid playmaker for us.....

Everett panning out gives us the best long-term option but I would be happy if Royal steps it up as a pass-catcher too.

Not that he wasn't a good player or anything, but the fact that we haven't anybody even close to his caliber (other than Remiersma for like 1 year in '98?) is pretty sad. Buftex
Everett was the one player I was really excited by in last years' draft...god, if this kid can stay healthy, he could be a monster. I just don't know what it is about Bills TE's though, they can never stay healthy...

I think the old man knows a thing or three about talent evaluation and the kind of players he wants to populate the team that he wants to build. Color me more upbeat about this campaign than a lot of people.

Mark Long Beach
While I can't say that I really have hope, I still feel that our TE's are better than we've had for quite a while.

Pyrite Gal
I have higher hopes for Brad Cieslak than I do for Kevin Everett, but that's just IMHO. 713737 Like Everett, Brad Cieslak is simply unproven in any game situations as a position plater beyond the sense from the current coaching staff that they are high on Cieslak but probably as a back-up blocking specialist to Royal. The irony here is that while Cieslak could well end up being second on the depth chart because he is a better replacement for Royal if he get hurt or needs a blow. Everett may well get more PT than Cieslak as his style as a dast shifty receiver may be more in demand if the Bills are looking to create mismatches in coverage. A 3 WR set which sits Shelton and brings in Parrish to team with the speed of Evans and Price offers real headaches for a DC as in theory all three of these players would draw his fastest cover guy if you are going to single them. If Evans proves fast enough to draw a double then the DC is likely forced to play a zone as Price if he recovers his 2002 Bills #2 form also demands a double and Parrish (Reed in the old days) would then get to feast on an LB or the 5th DB of the opponents. When you add the speed rep Everett brings to the mix it is downright scary for the opposing DC on 3rd down. I hope both Cieslak and Everett show some talent and if so we will likely see Cieslak most on ST or in goalline packages.
MadBuffaloDisease
I have higher hopes for Brad Cieslak than I do for Kevin Everett, but that's just IMHO. Why? Cieslak, while a nice story, isn't near the athlete Everett is, nor did he come from a big-time program like Everett did. And I haven't seen anything in Everett's past to make me think he won't give as much of an effort as Cieslak, especially being a former 3rd round pick who is coming-off knee surgery and dealing with a regime that didn't draft him. Maybe it's the knee injury, and what appear to be a potential problem with being injury-prone, which is a valid concern.

A diamond in the rough... Given that Everett comes from a program that has developed (recently- Shockey, Winslow Jr) some great TE talent at the college level, I am very excited to see him develop at the pro level. He is supposed to be a terrificly athletic, great hands, and great speed. He kind of fits the proto-type of the successful, offensive weapon type TE the Bills have been searching for, for the last decade or so. Missing his rookie year doesn't help anything, but I am keeping my fingers crossed...

Buftex
The assessment of Parrish based nostly on his size, right? 713764 Correct....also some questions about his "football intensity"...he was just surprised that he was drafted so highly, and doesn't see him as anything more than a good return man, in the NFL...I hope he is wrong! I viewed him as a "Looks like Tarzan, Plays like Jane" type who was drafted on physical potential rather than on field production. His game was very raw & I viewed him as a Lonnie Johnson type pick-a TE who didn't do that much in college & was expected by the Bills to be a better player as a pro than as a collegian, because the team felt he was underutilized in college. I hate picks like that because they seldom make better pros. Meanwhile the worst thing that can happen is Cieslak gets cut and we didn't waste a 3rd rounder like we did with Everett, when Everett gets cut. Everett will probably be given benefit of the doubt & make this year's team, but he'll go down with Lonnie Johnson as a pretty worthless TE for his Bills career. Once again, just my opinion, but drafting him on his physical potential was another TD mistake. Speaking of TD, I find it funny that so many people think TD was such a bum, but think he made a good pick with Everett-a raw, injury prone, underproductive collegian. Between him Royal, Everett, and Neufeld, Cieslak is pretty much a lock. He seems like a Marv kind of player, which also helps him, along with seemingly doing well and impressing the coaches. As for Everett, he was a JUCO transfer to Miami in 2003, and sat behind The Solja. As a full-time starter in 2004, with Brock Berlin as his QB (yech!), he caught 23 passes for 310 yards and had 84 knockdown blocks. He also only missed 1 game that year and in his entire time at UM. Time will tell if he's a nobody or not, but I think there's enough there to warrant sticking with him.
