If JP develops then TD should get some kudos for drafting him.  He should also take hits for being party to an organizational plan that handed JP the starting job after an incomplete rookie season.

Kudos should go to Jauron for making JP "just one of the guys", earn the job and earn your team mates respect.  I think Levy said it right away, they are not going to treat JP like a savior and hand him a job.  This is a demonstration of Coaching 101 by the current regime.

No question that TD deserves credit..but these 4 will use it as a subtitle of every story they write about JP if past history is any indication.

Is hockey over?

Is hockey ever really over?

Seriously, given the physical nature of the game, and the number of games each season, I've always been a bit jealous of how short the offseason is...relative to the NFL, that is.

Personally, I won't get excited about the new season until we get our asses handed to us in the first pre-season game and everyone in the chat room starts turning on each other.

In my opinion, the primary difference between this year and last year -- at least with respect to JP's comments -- is that in 2005, he was trying to "convince" everyone that the right choice had been made. This year, because there is an open competition for the job JP's play has to speak for itself -- anything he says is basically just for the benefit of the media.

Clayton's observations hold no merit with me; I can "hope" all I want that he's right, but I'll reserve judgment until I see JP's play on the field for myself.

There's nothing that John Clayton can say that will make me like him or respect him. I can't fathom why ESPN pays that guy gobs of cash to look pastily unprofessional and publish utterances that are so obviously the product of his being used as a pawn by the reporting team...was that a run on sentence...not sure...but he has about a 30% prediction/"informed commentary" success rate, which ain't good.

I don't think it's even that good. He was wrong about Jim Haslett, then Mike Sherman, then about the Moulds trade until the day before it was announced. ESPN seems to pay him just to guess at the next move.
