Fezmid Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 The officials are reverting to the old "we're not going to decide the game" thing. It's to be expected. I wouldn't say it's slanted toward either team. 710809 What happened to the "if it's a penalty in the 1st period of the 53rd game of the season, it's a penalty in the playoffs?"
Alaska Darin Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 What happened to the "if it's a penalty in the 1st period of the 53rd game of the season, it's a penalty in the playoffs?" 710811 It's Game 7 of the Finals - apparently the memo doesn't apply.
stevestojan Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 2:30 left ... 4 shots on net for Edmonton... not good.
Taro T Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 It's Game 7 of the Finals - apparently the memo doesn't apply. 710813 And then they come back with one that has been called all year. It would be nice if the refs could get on the same page for the 2nd and 3rd.

Alaska Darin Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 And they trump themselves with another weak penalty as time is running out.
UConn James Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Still being discussed, but that was a heads-up play by Staios. At worst, there's a penalty shot for him diving on the puck in the crease instead of a definite goal. I'd take that any day. On Edit: No PS, as it was ruled a touch to engage the penalty.
Taro T Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 And they trump themselves with another weak penalty as time is running out. 710823 But then JD trumps them all with the crying for a penalty shot. I swear he forgot to take his Midol today.

There's a great hockey game being played here and all they want to talk about is a non-issue that was the right call anyways. All Staios did was try to stuff it under Markannen's pad, which is fine as long as he doesn't close his hand on it or cover it himself. Not to mention that I think Brindamour hit it with a high stick anyways. Forget the artificially generated media controversy and just call the freaking game.

Simon Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Well said. 710841 It just boggles the mind with so much great material available in a high intensity championship Game7 that they feel the need to try and create interest by harping on that kind of immaterial nonsense. Where's RJ when you need him most?

Whatever. Hopefully this isn't an example of what the NFL will be like on NBC.
Fezmid Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Why wasn't that a penalty against Carolina? I thought the Edmonton player split the defenders and was taken down from behind. Is there a rule I'm missing? CW
UConn James Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Nice that NBC went into the replay booth and the official explained the ruling. More than they did in '99.... when Bettman went all BlackOps nowhere to be found.

UConn James Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Hopefully this isn't an example of what the NFL will be like on NBC. 710846 Sadly, I think it is. NBC is bush league when it comes to sports (besides tennis maybe, and only then b/c Ted Robinson actually knows when to shut the f--- up.)
Alaska Darin Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Edmonton just got away with one by Pronger. That was nasty.
UConn James Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I've had enough. 710850 Yeah.... Eulers hafta score 3 goals to win. I don't think that's going to happen unless Herb Brooks gives a locker-room speech during the intermission.
Taro T Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Is there any possibility that when an Oiler comes into the Canes zone with the puck that he will take a friggin' shot? You can't win when you don't even try to put the puck on net.
