Beerball Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 The Chunky Soup Curse strikes again. Big Ben was scheduled to tape a soup commercial today with his mother. Players better start avioding Chunky soup like the plague. Damn you Campbells, damn you to hell.

dave mcbride Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 this confirms what i suspected yesterday -- he's basically fine. http://post-gazette.com/pg/06164/697867-100.stm all the accident did was give lots of people a chance to bloviate about a) how they're smarter than that f**ing idiot roethlisberger; b) how much most drivers -- or motorcyclists (take your pick) -- suck at driving; or c) whether government is a good or bad thing. and the guy doesn't even play for the bills!!

Players better start avioding Chunky soup like the plague. Damn you Campbells, damn you to hell. 707811 ironic, since that's all he's going to be able to eat for the next several weeks. I feel bad that the guy got hurt and is still in serious condition. I hope he makes a speedy and full recovery. I don't like to see anyone hurt. that being said, I don't feel TOO bad for Ben. after all, he knew the risks. He also was riding a bike that has the claim that it is the fastest production bike for the streets. I wouldn't be surprised if Ben was speeding, although I don't know if he was. Who was at fault for the accident? I have no idea, as I have not read all the articles. As for the helmet and all the political and personal arguments for/against, had he wore the thing, he wouldn't be getting 7 hours of surgery on his nose/jaw/face. Another thing that wouldn't surprise me is if he has significant injuries to one of the following: arm shoulder hand knee ankle The types of injuries that a team spokesperson would request that the doctors not release yet. You know they want their own team doctors to look him over as well. (I've only read that he has lacerations to his legs so far). I remember when KW2 had his accident and the knee/leg injury was not mentioned at first along with the head injuries. It took a few days until they mentioned that.
mary owen Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 http://post-gazette.com/pg/06164/697867-100.stm 707856 thanks Dave, I wrote my post before I saw your reply....
C.Biscuit97 Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Just like the Steelers winning the Super Bowl, he got lucky. I saw some of the news reports and they showed Ben in a past interview saying he refuses to wear a helmet and he is a good rider. Even if you are a good driver, there are a lot of people out there who aren't. The more I think about it the more it pisses me off. The car driver seems to have made a mistake. I'm sure she feels bad enough about putting someone in the hospital. But imagine if he died from head injuries that a helmet could have prevented? I'm glad he is going to be ok, but this was so stupid.
Corp000085 Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 They are reporting on espnnews that he had an expired PA motorcycle permit. It apparently expired may 29th. That's a moving violation folks.
Wacka Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 I still don't think he'll play this year. his jaw was broken and those take a long time to heal.
Buftex Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 I still don't think he'll play this year. his jaw was broken and those take a long time to heal. 707892 Didn't Kerry Collins take a cheap shot a few years ago, and end up with a broken jaw, during a game? If I remember correctly, he missed about a month or so. Granted, Ben R's broken jaw could be a little more serious, given the nature of how how it was acquired.

H2o Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Thing is, it's so close to the season and he's going to be eating through a straw for 6 weeks. It's going to cause him to drop alot of weight probably, easily 20 lbs. He will be weak, out of shape, and all that if he can actually make it back in time for camp. I could see him being out till maybe the 4th week or so of the season. But since his knees are structurally OK, he'll definitely be out no longer than that. As soon as his face heals, I bet he's doing "Wear a Safety Helmet While Riding" commercials.
Bill from NYC Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 I'm not going to get sucked into the immigration question, but I think you're being too narrow if you place the burden of busy hospitals on illegals. The problem isn't that uninsured illegal immigrants clog up the system, its that UNINSURED people clog up the system - illegals are only a part of that group. Plenty of red-blooded American citizens who go to the emergency room with a stomach ache because they don't have any insurance and the hospital can't turn them away. 707801 Yeah, well a "red blooded American citizen" with a stomach ache costs far less than an illegal alien giving birth to an anchor baby with complications. It might matter more to you if your wife was in labor. Think so? That said, have fun being trendy and supporting the liberal cause of the week, as citizens are stripped of our rights. I don't suppose we will ever agree on the issue of rights for American Citizens. You see, I want Americans to have rights that are not based on your whims, nor whatever is trendy to the fascistic fringe element of the left (or phoney hucksters on the right for that matter). Thank you for the dialogue.
IDBillzFan Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 That's a moving violation folks. 707891 I wouldn't call it a moving violation. It was touching to a degree, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it moving.
H2o Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 On a funny note, I saw this one Mexican holding a sign that said, "No Illegals, No Burritos, Think About What You're Doing America" LOL!!! I laughed so hard when I saw that. My personal opinion, kick'm all out, dig a trench, build a wall after the trench, and make them go through the same process as everyone else who comes to America from a foreign country. You should have to be able to speak understandable English as well. I'm not going to blame all of our medical or school system problems on Illegals, but it is stupid to say that someone who BROKE OUR LAWS TO ILLEGALLY ENTER OUR COUNTRY should be claiming that they have any rights here. That's just completely retarded.
Beerball Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 I wouldn't call it a moving violation. It was touching to a degree, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it moving. 707921 I guess it's all a matter of perspective. I consider this a flying violation, but that's just me.
