Luvbills Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Need some info....I am considering a road trip to either Houston or Detroit...looking for pros and cons of both..thanks
meazza Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Well let's analyze If you go to Houston, you'll get fat. If you go to Detroit, you'll get robbed. So what do you value more? Your money or your health
Dan Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 If you go to Detroit. You have to go to the Ole Sheleighlie (sp?) Irish Pub (it has a green banner) about a block west of the Greektown Casino. I was in Detroit this past winter for a week and we closed the place dowb everynight. It's a great bar! I didn't find the crime so bad. We walked back to the hotel every night (about 5 or 6 blocks) at about 3 or 4 am with no problems. However, somone was shot in the hotel the first night we were there.
SACKMARINO Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 houston and u get to see E moulds tear up his former team.
Buftex Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 I have been to a couple of Houston Texans games (one against the Bills in 2002), but never to Detroit for a game. I will say, Reliant stadium is gorgeous, but it has no atmosphere whatsover, and Houston Texans fans (as Oiler fans before them, for the most part) are clueless. Also, the stadium is just kind of there, in the middle of the city, and it just doesn't feel like you are going to a football game. I would imagine, as lousy as the Lions are (and have been) for most of my 41 years on this planet, Detroit would be a better football experience. I have heard that Ford Field is supposed to be a spectacular place to see a game. The weather may be more agreeable in Houston, but for a football game, I would have to think Detroit would be a better experiecnce. I will be going to see the Bills play the Texans in November, and I am sure I will have a blast, but given a choice, I would go to D-town! Houston is a pretty cool city, but you have to be there long enough to "discover" it. If you are not familiar with it, and are just going to be there a few days, I suspect you won't come away feeling very good about the city. It is a big cement block, with endless traffic problems, and t*tty bars.
Luvbills Posted June 8, 2006 Author Posted June 8, 2006 Hmmmmm...Chicago might even be the better option....I was at the old Lions stadium for a turkey day game with the Bills...Never been to Houston either.
#89 Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 The Booster club is having a Detroit trip. I signed up they have revamped the area for last year's Super Bowl.
Guffalo Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Hmmmmm...Chicago might even be the better option.... 704945 Tickets may be a problem in Chicago, I called to check about tickets for the game, no group sales for regular season games. Also, the woman in the ticket office said in the last 2 years, only credit cards with an Illinois or Chicago area billing address will be served. 4 tickets per address/credit card. we may have to look through the tour operators for Chicago tickets. I did see ebay offers for $540 for 4 seats, way up in the corner, whose face value is $60 per ticket.
30dive Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 One piece of advise....Avoid cities that can be taken by a huricane.
EZC-Boston Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Detroit could also be fun due to the proximity to Windsor...
beerme1 Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 It is a big cement block, with endless traffic problems, and t*tty bars. 704932 Sounds like the choice to me Wait, are you talking about Toronto?
Luvbills Posted June 8, 2006 Author Posted June 8, 2006 Tickets may be a problem in Chicago~~~~~~ We always book our travels through Teal Travel and he gets our tickets,hotel..etc .never an issue. I have no desire to go to Detroit...have not heard great things about that city at all....looking like Houston at this point.
Buftex Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Sounds like the choice to me Wait, are you talking about Toronto? 705133 Houston, I believe, in all seriousness, has the largest number of "gentlemens' clubs" per capita, in the US. It must also have the largest number of "dancer supply" stores too...
