Albany,n.y. Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 I bought a Whirlpool AD50DSR dehumidifier last year. Within 3 days the thing is leaking on my basement floor. I take it back to the store (Coca's in Albany) and they hide behind the warranty-won't refund or exchange. They send me to their contracted repair shop with a bad, brand new dehumidifier. It's in the shop 2-3 weeks, I get it back & it leaks again-back to the shop for another 2 months. I get it back & it looks ok, but I see some leakage-by now it's the end of the summer & I don't need a dehumidifier until the following spring/summer-now. Well, guess what -leaks again. I've given up & instead of bringing it in for another repair, I'm just going to retire the thing and accept the fact that Whirlpool stole $200 from me. I wrote them some pretty nasty e-mails last fall, and the company is basically a bunch of crooks who hide behind a bogus warranty. I'll never buy Whirlpool anything again nor will I go back to the bums who sold me this piece of you know what. Anyone else want to vent about bad products?
CajunBillsBacker Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Bought my wife a $500 sewing machine one year because she reeeeaalllyyyy needed a sewing machine because she liked going to her sisters house and seeing all the great things she made with it. She's only touched the machine 3 times in 4 years.
stuckincincy Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 I bought a Whirlpool AD50DSR dehumidifier last year. 702532[/snapback] I bought that Chinese model, too. It was a replacement for a (made in America) Whirlpool unit that gave me 8 years of good service. It doesn't leak, but it's nowhere near as efficient. Whirlpool service is a joke. They have a warranty repair company that is based in Texas; they failed to show up to check it out - twice. I paid $129 for it, and bought another China job, branded Haier, from Target on sale for 99 bucks. It's doing a good job - so far. The Whirlpool is in the laundry room - it squeezes out a piddling quart or so over 3 or 4 days (I keep it set low so it doesn't suck up my electricity). The faceless sh*ts that run many companies today evidently are incapable of understanding that peddling lousy low-end items wreaks havoc with the sales of their pricier products.
UConn James Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Maybe this is a topic for the Consumer Forum...? I'm looking for a dehumdifier my ownself, as our dinosaur sh--box would get about 4 drops in a weekend. Got a Kenmore humidifier at Sears for this past winter that worked great, but the reverse process is a different animal. Anyone know a good model? As for the worst product.... Hmm. That would be the Canon S400 printer I bought back in 2001 for ~$70. It worked all right for about a month when I was printing something most every day and then when it stopped getting frequent use, the black cartridge wouldn't print. Tried everything in the maintainence stuff, even a new cartridge and still nothing. It's now collecting dust in the attic. I've also heard bad stuff about the Maytag washing machines that supposedly use less water (b/c there's water that always stays inside a shell in the machine).... Long story short, sludge/mold/bacteria builds up in there. The sh-- of it is, Maytag alledgedly knew about this before they put it on the market.

The washer sounded like the drum was going to rip itself out of the machine, and the brakes were gone on the dryer. They'd only had the two units about 5 years.
millbank Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 We needed a small car to get around , purchased a 1970 Chevy Vega brand new, . Remember the thing back firing red fire. Salesman telling me nothing is wrong with car we just needed to break it in. Poor dog got blown across barn yard. This car is ranked amongst the worst lemons ever made.
Gary M Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 A Ford escort. I bought it used. The head cracked, I found out that they had a recall for that so I called a local dealer, not where I bought it. They got me the paper work, but said let the garage where the car is fix it, I had to pay up fornt and get reimbursed. Then they wouldn't pay the whole amount, they had a set limit, and the garage that did the work went over by a couple of hundred. Then the new head cracked. That wasn't covered. IDBillzFan Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Playstation 2 with Madden 2003. It cost me about $300 and 53 minutes to figure out I know absolutely nothing about playing video games or understanding call signals. The game was used probably five times and hasn't been used since.

Toyota sent out a letter a few years ago addressing this, and they said if you ever run into a problem with the sludge, they'll replace the engine for you free of charge for the life of the car (as long as you change the oil like you're supposed to). I think this is the case of people over-reacting. CW
MarkyMannn Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 1984 Chevy Celebrity. Just an incredible amount of repairs, not to mention a Chev dealer that had no morals whatsoever. Conversely, a 94 Taurus, best car I ever had. Other than maintenance, a $50 repair of broken sway bar links for the life of the car. Totalled at 99,000, I bought a 2002 figuring 8 years newer, it has to be better yet. WRONG!!! I almost wonder if Ford put lots of effort into a really good car (the 94), then after that puts lots of effort into taking out cost, and there goes the really good car (the 2002)
