Why is Peters a no show for OTA's?

Recommended Posts

You know there are certain people that probably don't need to be there, like Clements, however, Peters who only moved into the starting role partway through the season and only being a second year player should be there.

This is very disappointing and maybe with the signing of Gibson, he was told either he wasn't guarenteed the spot at RT, or he's pouting. Seems to me that should he ever expect to move to the left tackle spot for the big payday, he should take advantage of every opportunity to learn and practice.

Are we going to make a thread for every player that doesnt show. Its voluntary. Would you go to work if you didnt have to and they were still going to pay you. I thought so. Lets get over it. They will all have plenty of time together when the mandatorys start. Relax its June.

:D

Happens all the time when you're salaried. It's all about making sure the job is done, no matter what it takes. Same thing here with the NFL.... maybe it'd be different if they punched a clock. :P

And yes, Peters should be there.

Yes I would. As a matter of fact I didn't have to work Monday, but since there was work to be done I showed up anyway. It's called being an adult. Learn it. Live it.

No not for every player, but the younger ones, and those that just getting starting time should be there.

I think CB's are less important, as well as RB's. WR's as well don't really need to be there other then for timing purposes. But young linemen especially on the offense need to be there.

I'm sure he has a decent enough reason and has been cleared by the team. The real problem here is that these type of things have ALWAYS happened, yes even on championship teams. The difference is that now we are privy to 100 times more day to day information and updates on the team than we were even 10 years ago, making for many more "Doomed" fan reactions.

aahhh. I am going to make sure you get the employee of the year award. Do you think that you are the only guy that went into work when he or she didnt have to. Get over yourself guy. I work in the marine industry and thats 24 hours a day. The remark was why wasnt he there? probably because he is vacationing or taking the personnal time he needs before the start of the long season. These guys maybe be pros but they have a life outside of voluntary mini camp.

I wasn't replying to the poster's comment, I was replying to your's. And for the recoed I don't have a problem with most of the players who have missed, just the ones that are relatively new to their position.

I can also all but guarantee that Peters, amongst others, also work with the team and their position coaches even when there is no "OTA" going on.

I would bet he has too and thats great. However you of all people know just how long it takes an OL to gel and he along with the others should take every oportunity to work with each other.

We keep making comparisons to our real jobs and how any one of us would skip the day of work if we could. But it's not the same thing.

So your company has a fiscal year, and a football team has a season. How many people on this board work for a company that starts each fiscal year with one massive metallic prize at the end of the year? How many people work at companies where all 53 employees and their coaches MUST be on the same page at all times to get that prize, only to gather one day each week to compete against another company of the same size solely for a chance to compete at the end of the year for a piece of metal, a ring, and a better resume'?

Most of you are sitting in your cubicle waiting for the next thing you're supposed to do in addition to all the other things you're supposed have done by now, and at the end of the year, if all of your co-workers AND their bosses do everything they're supposed to do succesfully and go undefeated in whatever it is you do, you get what??? A prize? An award? A parade? A ring?

No. You get a tiny raise, another assignment, and a new boss who shouldn't be the boss because he's half as smart as you.

I think it's one of the lamest offseason arguments that any one of us would do the same thing if we were in Peters' shoes. It's just !@#$ing stupid.

Peters is getting paid hundreds of thousands or millions each year. If he does well, he has a chance at signing bonus of over $5 million.

I can only speak for myself, but with that kind of money on the line, I'd be there, and I'd listen to every word out of McNally's mouth like it was gold.

For that kind of potential jack, I'd be showing up at 5 AM and scrubbing out the latrines...
