Corp000085 Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2460799 i honstly don't know much about the guy besides his amazing skill in tecmo super bowl and for his body wash commercials... Looks like a brain tumor took his life. RIP
Dibs Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 R.I.P. It's gotta be said....Ironhead....brain tumor....irony.
MartyBall4Buffalo Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 It's gotta be said....Ironhead....brain tumor....irony. 699216 heh its wrong but that was kind of funny. Still R.I.P. Craig Heyward.
puppet Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Lost my best friend to a similar brain tumor when he was 18. Horrible news ... my thoughts go out to his family.
Frez Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 I remember seeing Ironhead in just a tee shirt before a game one Sunday. He was just huge! That guy had muscles all over the place. RIP
CajunBillsBacker Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Oh No! Definitely not the kind of announcement I want to come home to. One of my all time favorite players. Met him in person at a Saints game once, one of the friendliest guys you could ever meet.
Just Jack Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 I remember seeing Ironhead in just a tee shirt before a game one Sunday. He was just huge! That guy had muscles all over the place. RIP 699241 No pants?
mary owen Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 i remember always wishing he would come to Buffalo late in his career. one of my favorite players at the time.
***PetrinoInAlbany*** Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Not many true fullbacks crack a thousand yards. He did it his Pro Bowl season. I feel so bad for his family. He was only 39.
buckeyemike Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 One of my all-time favorite players, esp. when he was in college at Pitt. RIP. Mike
crazyDingo Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 I remember the first highlite I ever saw of him just putting his head down and DESTROYING the goal line. RIP, Ironhead.
Frez Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Did the NFL have a steroid testing program in place when Ironhead played? This guy was the above normal size for his time. hmmmmmmmmmm?
Dennis in NC Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Lately, I have been reviewing old VHS tapes and converting the stuff to DVDs. I just came across a Zest soap ad featuring Ironhead (when he was with the Rams). The big guy is taking a shower and says he is "Zestfully clean!" The ad includes a brief shot of him blocking a linebacker to the ground.
John from Riverside Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Ironhead created the standard of how Fullbacks are supposed to block in the NFL...... For quite a while the top FB's were.....Ironhead and Sam Gash.
jester43 Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 i remember when one of my buddies lived on his dorm floor at pitt. another guy on the floor was sprawled out in the hallway outside his room gabbing on the phone. heyward was injured at the time and on crutches. as he crutched his way down the hall he found he couldn't quite get by his sprawled out floormate. he asked him politely to move, but the kid was so engrossed in his conversation that he didn't hear. so good old ironhead did what any self-respecting steroid-addled college football playing bully (at least the kind i went to school with) would do- he drilled the kid across the face full force with the end of his crutch, shattering his jaw. silly ironhead.
