Frez
I remember seeing Ironhead in just a tee shirt before a game one Sunday. He was just huge! That guy had muscles all over the place. RIP
CajunBillsBacker
Oh No! Definitely not the kind of announcement I want to come home to. One of my all time favorite players. Met him in person at a Saints game once, one of the friendliest guys you could ever meet.

***PetrinoInAlbany***
Not many true fullbacks crack a thousand yards. He did it his Pro Bowl season. I feel so bad for his family. He was only 39.

crazyDingo
I remember the first highlite I ever saw of him just putting his head down and DESTROYING the goal line. RIP, Ironhead.
Frez
Did the NFL have a steroid testing program in place when Ironhead played? This guy was the above normal size for his time. hmmmmmmmmmm?
Dennis in NC
Lately, I have been reviewing old VHS tapes and converting the stuff to DVDs. I just came across a Zest soap ad featuring Ironhead (when he was with the Rams). The big guy is taking a shower and says he is "Zestfully clean!" The ad includes a brief shot of him blocking a linebacker to the ground.
John from Riverside
Ironhead created the standard of how Fullbacks are supposed to block in the NFL...... For quite a while the top FB's were.....Ironhead and Sam Gash.
jester43
i remember when one of my buddies lived on his dorm floor at pitt. another guy on the floor was sprawled out in the hallway outside his room gabbing on the phone. heyward was injured at the time and on crutches. as he crutched his way down the hall he found he couldn't quite get by his sprawled out floormate. he asked him politely to move, but the kid was so engrossed in his conversation that he didn't hear. so good old ironhead did what any self-respecting steroid-addled college football playing bully (at least the kind i went to school with) would do- he drilled the kid across the face full force with the end of his crutch, shattering his jaw. silly ironhead.
