cantankerous Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 We need our TE's to step it up and become threats in the passing game. If not we are going to see 8 players in the box just waiting to pounce on McGahee and our RB's. If Losman wins the starting job I see this as a likely scenario...Teams just stacking the line and saying "prove to us you can pass, cause we don't think you can." The TE position has been non-existent for the most part in recent years...and I think if someone can make some catches and be that underneath threat, teams might think twice about stacking up against our running game. Thoughts?
JStranger76 Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 I've been hoping someone would ever since Lonnie left. But hey, at least it looks as if we have some decent options for once. After Everitt went down last year, I knew this position would be a disaster. Out of Royal, Everitt, Euhus, and this supposed new #2 on the depth chart guy, someone should at least become dependable.
BuffOrange Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 I agree, been missing one for so long. Why didn't we take one in a supposed deep TE draft? What's the deal with Everitt - is he 100%?
cantankerous Posted May 27, 2006 Author Posted May 27, 2006 One guy I thought we could have taken...in fact i'm really suprised nobody drafted him...was Oregon's Tim Day. He's huge and very athletic. I believe he was signed by Tampa Bay as an UDFA. Oh well I'm really hoping Kevin Everett is healthy this year considering we used a 3rd round pick on the guy last year. Hopefully Tim Euhus rebounds from his injury plagued 2005 season as well. I kinda like the idea of a double tight end set, with McGahee in the backfield.
