I don't remember ever hearing that until this year and now I hear it referred to all the time, but don't know what it is - the half wall?

Isn't it where the benches are? The players climb over the half-wall to get on the ice.

It's the area along the boards about halfway into the offensive zone.

Ahh. I was wrong. Figures

Halfway between the blue line and the goal line in the offensive zone. It's usually where the forwards set up in the diamond on a power play.

Thanks - that makes sense now - I was also sent a PM that explained it really well...........I never heard it until this year - have they always said that? Maybe I haven't watched enough hockey.

I've been watching hockey for over 30 years and the only one that I ever heard use the term "half-wall" is Mike Emerick. Others have copied him and it's become a more popular term. I can't recall RJ ever using that term. Wouldn't any wall, even boards in hockey, be a full wall? It's not like any of it is missing.

I've heard RJ use it many times this year.....I heard GR's guys use it yesterday..........I specifically looked to see if any walls/boards were half - but they are all the same like you say............Thanks to the Wallers I now know what they are talking about. (It was also mentioned in the Drury article the other day).
