"They were tremendously athletic. The one thing that stood out to me was how focused and serious they were about the game. If you came out to practice it would have taken you a long time to tell who were the rookies and who were the vets." From a special teams standpoint April didn't see any of the young players facing a long learning curve. Seriously, they mention "character" a lot but Marv looks for those who are smarter and are "students of the game". In almost every write up I've seen of Whitner, his preparation and film study is highly praised. Let's hope it's just not lip service when it comes to the group as a whole. I guess we can take that our rookies are well motivated to play hard in any role even when it means running 60 yards into a 300 pound man. Was it him who ordered the pizza during training?(or someone else?) Either way, the rookie who ordered the pizza got bbbbad words said about him. Lets hope this rookie class don't like pizza. That's why he got low marks on "character" by some teams going into the draft. I remember Marv saying Eric Moulds was the best college kick returner he has ever seen. "Our rookies have a long way to go before they are NFL-caliber, but I think we have the coaching staff in place to get them to where they need to be. Levy and head coach Dick Jauron both concluded that post-draft reports were most likely correct, and they could've traded down at least ten spots and gotten both of the players they drafted in the first round. "We don't put a lot of stock in the 'expert' opinions out there, but after seeing these players in practice, nobody in their right mind was taking them that high," Jauron said. Also in Bills news, rookie safeties Donte Whitner and Ko Simpson were arrested last Saturday after a disturbance in a back-alley Buffalo porn theater. Both men were arrested for disorderly conduct, posession of a controlled substance, and public lewdness. "We drafted them because they are students of the game," Levy said.
