BuffOrange Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Sorry if there have been threads on this already. How many of you guys play, and at what sites? I've played at Party and Ultimate Bet, but have been sticking with Paradise lately because of the "independant shuffling review" they apparantly have. Haven't noticed much of a difference. Does anybody think the cards are rigged? I've won back everything I lost early on when I started. Still, the cards seem really fishy at times. At least half the flops are either 3 suited cards, or a pair on the board....stuff that just doesn't happen as often in "live" games. One more running two pair or trip 5's on the river when I have AA and I'm going to light myself on fire. Also, what stakes do you play? I consistently win at .50/1.00 but every time I step it up to higher stakes it's not so good.
Like A Mofo Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I play on Paradise Poker....you will have some bad beats there but thats happening in real and online games, just so may fish out there and people who think they are Chip Jett or Men the Master and attempting to emulate their favorite players they see on ESPN, so that will happen everywhere, but IMO Paradise is a little better then Party River and Riverstars. I REFUSE to put another dime in Pokerstars, I am almost totally convinced that their decks are "juiced" or I also refer to Pokerstars as the "Balco of Online Poker". When Chris Moneyfaker won the 2003 WSOP, Pokerstars poularity paid off, and Moneymaker was reeling in hands left and right, I am suspicious that this site "caters to the chasers" because they received a lot of exposure from Chris Moneyfaker.

You can play for $5, $10, $20, $50, etc, etc... Everyone gets 800 "chips", and that way it is true No limit hold em. when you play the .50/1.00 table it is tough to bluff, especially after two rounds of betting. i mean, if someone is in for $3, and you raise them $1, they arnt gonna fold. Try the touneys. Youll love em.
KD in CA Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I play sometimes, usually $10 single table tourney at Party or P-Stars. Yeah there are some bad beats, but that's poker. I think the conspiracies are overblown. I'm up a couple hundred bucks overall. I did read an interesting article last week though. It said that these guys who have developed computer programs that can play poker are plugging them into these sites, so you might be sitting next to a computer rather than a person. Of course, there's probably not much of a risk at the $10 tables, and most of the programs haven't figured out all the variables in poker (apparently chess is easier to teach a computer), but it was interesting to see what some people are up to.

I want to try that because I know there's more skill involved, but I also know there's a lot more math involved, which I've yet to master. Do you just play super-aggressive? What if you get pocket 9's early on, do you go all in?

But, with the $10 table, the first blinds are only 25/50 i think, so you have plenty of time to read the other players. Super agressive? I dont think going all in is super agressive with a pair of nines, but I would definitly wait to see some cards (probably at least the flop and 4th street). I mean, if those 4 come up, and there isnt one card above a 9, Im feeling awesome. But that's not likely. Believe me, if you dont regularly play in real life, you should play in those tourneys. Plus, you only need to come in top 3 to finish in the money. ($50, $30, $20). By the way, its $11 to join a $10 table, party poker takes the rake before the game starts.

Two and three guys sit at a table with a couple of other people, and share their cards via IM and cellphones, and beat up on unsuspecting people at the tables.

I used to play 1-2 on partypoker, and bounced up to 3-6 now and then, I play 4-8 in the casino, but online I can't play around with that kind of bank. I'd love to try one of the other sites, but I don't feel like putting any more money into something I'm still suspicous of.
ajzepp Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Pacific Poker - my personal favorite - has free rolls about every four hours or so throughout the day. I basically hit those tourneys until I get in the money, and then use that to fund a 10 or 20 player sit-and-go game.

Thanks for your donation.

BF_in_Indiana Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 I play all the time. Anywhere that let's me put money in and win more I'm supporting. Party, UB, Paraidse, Pokerroom, Full Tilt, etc......... I win 60 percent of the tourneys I get into.
stevestojan Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 I win 60 percent of the tourneys I get into. 51672 Im not saying you are not a quality poker player, but if that was true you could COMFORTABLY retire from whatever your current job is (and i have seen from pictures that you are around my age). 60% wins on a 10 person tourney? Come on man.
taterhill Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 I win 60 percent of the tourneys I get into. 51672 I 100% guarantee that this is not true, if so then why are you not on the WPT?

Come on man. 51678 They aren't exactly high buy in tourneys........usually 10 dollars. Once in a while 20. I don't win as many of the 20 dollar ones as I do the 5 and 10's. I don't get in them 5 times a day...........maybe like 1 or 2 tourneys a week (less right now.) Poker has paid some of my bills this summer. And yes my goal is to get onto a WPT event. I play live cards with a guy that just cashed in a WPT event last month. He got like 30th. I hold my own.
