stevewin Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Throw out the Buffalo debacle and the average margin of victory is 7 points. The streak includes two OT wins, a couple stellar 12-0 wins along with a 9-3 one, and the last play FG of the SB. Indy with two unbelievable choke jobs which should have ended it. Paco Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 16 Sept. 9, 2004 Indianapolis 27-24 McGinest's sack saves the day I would add that Edge fumbling at the one yard line really saved their day.
jad1 Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I see a lot of guys making big plays in that list. They also play excellent defense in the red zone. But they are beatable. The Bills D will be the best they've faced this year. They've shown some weakness against the run. The opportunities are there. What I'm looking for in this game is Buffalo showing that they can take advantage of those opportunities and eliminate mistakes. Hopfully things will snap into place for them this week.

However, take a look at how close their road games have been. Additionally only 6 of their last 17 have been on the road. After looking at that list, along with the circumstances surrounding this game ("must" win for Buffalo), I think Buffalo plus the points would be a sound bet.
Guest Guest Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 WE GONNA BUST A CAP ON NEW ENGLAND COME SUNDAY AT THE STADIUM, WHOOOOAHHHH!!!!
Guest Guest Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 No points are awarded for impressive wins. Only for wins. A 1 point win counts as much as a 30 point win and no team understands this more than the Pats. No matter how the Pats win football games they win them and that's all that counts. To win 17 games in a row as they have done, in today's parity stricken league, is amazing. Even if many of those 17 wins weren't the dominating types.
stevestojan Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Good teams find a way to win. Try to tear it apart as much as you want. There is a reason they squeak out some games that they do and the bills always seem to be looking for excuses (i.e. weeks #1 and #2 this season). New England has potential to win the SB again this year. We have no shot. Good teams find a way to win. If they won all of those games by one point, it would STILL be an overly impressive streak.
Gary M Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I think that his point is that they are not neccessarily a dominating team. Yes they find ways to win, but very few of the games are blowouts. Beside the run for the bus game against the Bills 31-0, the biggest margin of victory was against the Jags 27-13. Good teams find a way to win. Try to tear it apart as much as you want. Thurman's Helmet Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I would think winning close games would be better for a team's psyche down the line. If the game is close at the end, the Patriots are very confident that they'll do what it takes to win. Thirty years from now, they wont be examining how much they won by, they'll just be marveling at how often they won. Does it hurt any less if the Bills only get beat by 1 point as opposed to 14+? Are you into moral victories?
bobinaz Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 Give props to the Pats for winning and putting the game away at the right moment. But on any given Sunday, and this will be the one, the Bills will win. Like the previous post, 6 of the 17 games for the Pats were on the road. They haven't faced a defense like the Bills yet. Granted, they had two weeks to prepare as well, but I think if Grey continues putting pressure on Marsha all day long, the defense will hold them down. What we'll need is to run, run, and run some more, right up the middle. That's been the Pats weakness. Let's hope our O-line can do it with the injuries they are going in with. Villarial and Pucillo are listed as questionable. That leaves Tucker which won't be a drop off from CV. But if anyone gets hurt...that'll be a blow to the o-line without any other guards to fill in. So Bills nation, forget all hype about game winning streaks, because there is a point to be made for these season and it starts here. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
