In contrast, nfldraftscout.com's Rob Rang's take:

"We correctly projected that the DT John McCargo would be selected with the 26th pick, but the choice was ultimately made by the Buffalo, not Chicago.

McCargo's burst makes him a great fit for Perry Fewell's scheme with the Bills and had been moving up the board in recent weeks.

There will be some who characterize both of Buffalo's picks as reaches - each certaily were taken off the board earlier than projected, but I would maintain that both players are wonderful fits in the Bills' scheme and make immediate contributions."

I'm not going to say that ESPN is the last word on football, but they used the same metaphor to describe each Bills pick:

8(8) Buffalo Donte Whitner S OHIO STATE

With Lawyer Milloy in Atlanta and Troy Vincent clearly on the downside of his career, Buffalo has qeustions at safety. However, it has far grater needs at offensive tackle and defensive tackle. Taking Whitner is a one of the biggest reaches we have seen.

26(26) Buffalo (from Chicago) John McCargo DT NORTH CAROLINA ST

Some picks are more difficult to explain than others. It's true that defensive tackle is one of the Bills' needs, but taking McCargo here is one of the biggest reaches we've seen in years.

Here's the link.

On the McCargo pick they should have said, "one of the biggest reaches we've seen...since the Bills last pick."

That definitely would have been more apt, but you can't expect much out of espn.com these days.

Kiper just said he had him (Kiwi) as a late 2nd round pick.....

He said it was just a "bit of a stretch."

Weird considering the Bills took 2 guys that were supposed to go into the first round and he said they were among the biggest reaches in years!!!!

if the Jets take Justice I might need CPR

can they really take 3 lineman with their first 3 picks

If the Jets ended up with Justice........They would probably have the BEST O-Line in football for many years to come. Maybe not in the first year, but they would be dominant for a VERY long time.

too early for the Tags stuff, why would they do this at the begining of the second round

its the second round, people still want to talk draft and about the players, not the commish

ESPN's coverage of the draft gets worse and worse every year

JUST DO THE FRIGGIN DRAFT
