kegtapr
lol, well I think you're the exception more than the rule.....but the bottom line is that MOVIES RULE, DAMMIT 670965 One thing I think we can agree on is they both need to start carrying nudie flicks! ajzepp
By the way, here is an example of why I was so excited when I first signed up with Netflix.... My ex-wife and I probably watched around 4-5 movies per week. We were saving up for a house and this was a cheap form of entertainment. My stepsons - assuming they got their homework done - could rent DVDs too, and they probably went through maybe 2-3 per week. So you figure 6-8 rentals per week, at $4 per rental, comes out to $24-$32 per week, which is $96-$128 per month if you were to rent them from a retail place. Some of the stuff my kids were into was cheaper, so it might not be quite this much, but you get the idea. Now we signed up for the 5-at-a-time plan, which I believe was like $30 a month or so. So that should give you an idea of how much savings were talking about here. You basically adjust your plan to your rental habits. I dunno, it's been great for me....that's all I can say about it

IDBillzFan
Oh, okay...I knew that. I think I'll wait for a few years to work out any kinks in the technology and for them to come down in price! 670929 You should upgrade to a hi-def DSS receiver with Tivo. We're a bit behind on our movies, but we Tivo all kinds of flicks in hi-def and there's no waiting for technology to catch up to you. Seriously, if you're getting a TV that can play hi-def, you should absolutely make the investment in a hi-def satellite with Tivo.

Pay a fee, order your movies, get them in the mail, send them back. They can call themselves NetChix.

Realist
I like Netflix for the most part. However, if you are in the habit of adding the newest releases when they come out, good luck getting those anytime soon. I literally had "Two for the Money" as the #1 slot in my queue for 3 and a half months before they finally sent it to me. Then it wasn't all that good At points, the top 15 in my queue have been unavailable due to being waitlisted. But, if you can build a big enough queue, it's still works out to be a pretty good deal. 670930 Now that is the opposite of what happened to me. I was always able to get the tope movies from Netflix, but with Blockbuster, they never had anything available.

sweet baboo
I've never rented from Blockbuster. $4 for a rental, forget that. But their online service has blown Netflix out of the water and it's still in its infancy. I've always hated Blockbuster, but they've yet to screw with me like Netflix did and I'm getting a lot more value for the money. 670824 Blockbuster's online service seems slow and bloated compared to Netflix service to Rochester

TheMadCap
You can check what is being released that week using an option in the HOME menu. You can also pre-reserve movies, provided you know the title. Duh, yes, I know. I have V for Vendetta on my queue for when it comes out.
Rico
If you're actually WATCHING the movies and then sending them back, I honestly don't think there is an issue. I had the base program for the first year and never had any problem at all. Now if you're taking the movies and burning them to DVD and then sending them back, and then complaing that you cant rent hundreds of movies a month, I think that's a bit ridiculous. When you run the math compared to what you'd spend on rentals at Blockbuster or Hollywood video, Netflix saves you a LOT of money. 670840 Yes indeed. I used to get mad when they started throttling my account since it truly was unlimited back when I first started... but now I'm OK with averaging slightly less than 2 movies per week per disc on the plan (I get 8 out & turn around about 14 a week). So much faster than BB on-line was when I had a free trial & many, many more titles available.

It's amazing how much sh-- they really have, and sometimes you don't realize it until you go looking for something more obscure. If it's on DVD, Netflix has it. That's some serious value you're getting, lol. I have the 8-out-at-a-time too.....I work nights, so on my off days I have plenty of stuff to watch from netflix at 2am since there's mostly crap on tv at that time of day. I can wait to rent new releases, since I'm buying the ones I really want to see. The trick to maximizing rentals as I see it is to get the 1st batch turned over & back to them no later than Thursday's mail since they don't ship on Saturday... that way the 2nd round is received & shipped on Friday for the weekend. Since they rarely ship on Mondays anymore (at least if you're being throttled like me), it's best to have the 2nd batch processed & mailed same day on Saturday... that's probably what I'll be doing when the draft starts, I'll hit the post office down the street right after the Bills make their pick.
