Mr Info
The NFL Network will pick 4 games from the previous week and re-air them on Tue & Wed evening. They will remove halftime and all unnecessary video but also add additional camera angles and commentary. NFL Network Re-Airs "... NFL Game Re-Airs will play in a 90-minute fast-paced format without halftime and other elements not critical to the outcome. NFL Game Re-Airs will tell the story of the game with additional features. In order to give the games context, NFL Network will add sideline and on-field sound captured during the game and postgame press conference sound bites. Other enhancements will include exclusive shots and camera angles from NFL Films, allowing fans an inside look at game action they did not see on Sunday. This will give fans a deeper understanding of the game, the players and the coaches. For example, if NFL Game Re-Airs was featuring the Colts-Steelers AFC Divisional Playoff where Jerome Bettis fumbled late in the game, viewers would see related comments from Bettis, Bill Cowher and others immediately after the play, as well as slow-motion footage showing the play as it unfolded. NFL Network has the ability to select any NFL game for use on NFL Game Re-Airs, complete with original television announcers and cameras. " I give 1 for the over/under on the Bills appearing in 2006 on this.

F*ck, the vault is jam packed full of great games from the 70's 80's 90's....what is the deal? It's not like they are selling videos of those old games, so why not just show them during the offseason? seems to me it could broaden the fan base and increase ratings. Hell, they could sell them to some of the networks or espn. I don't get it. all you ever see are old specials about games, but why not just replay a classic like they do with some of the college games on ESPN2??? Then, they would truly be the station where "the season never ends".

What really shocks me is that the NFL doesnt release the Super Bowls, (full complete games, w/commercials and everything on DVD. I guarantee you they could make some serious cash releasing the SB's in a few box sets.

They clearly are going after a "new" audience, i.e. 17-24 year-olds, and have pretty much pi$$ed on the old farts like me who would salivate at the thought of a regular feeding of John Facenda. Once in awhile you see something from the vaults, but I tend to see more of that stuff on ESPN Classic than NFLN.

During the preseason last year all the games were rebroadcast and you could watch individual players and evaluate. They aired a sold out Lambeau Field for a scrimmage between the Bills and Packers(I think the practices and scrimmage went well). Then the season started and you got 2 old playoff games repeated through the week. 1) They could have done a lot with NFL films like Football Follies once in awhile. 2) They could do an hour show every day on the status of teams in a different division. 12 minutes on a team then 3 minutes of commercials. 12 minutes a week on team news is not too much. 3) With now 40 Superbowls they could once a week show one. It would take 9 months before they would repeat them. They could show playoff games leading to those superbowls on days preceding the airing of the super bowl. 4) a half hour show going over each teams draft would be good for the dead time until training camp starts. There is so much that could be done that isn't. I may subscribe again but they have to do more with the network.
