The Jokeman Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 668422 Well when you have a tag team like Ron Edwards and Tim Anderson - Who needs Pat Williams..........? 668434 Yet we didn't have Edwards, and see that's what so many people forget. Edwards played 4 games all season, granted we were 1-3 in those games. As a result we were forced to play most of last season with our 3rd string DT of 2004 (Anderson) as a starter for most of the 2005 season. In terms of Dr. Z apparently he missed out on that great Bears D and didn't see Brian Urlacher and/or Mike Brown play.

Before he got hurt, he was playing terribly...go back and look at the Saints game (before he got injured in that game) and the Bucs game....he was awful. Edwards kind of typified the TD era. He did nothing to show that he was any good, but TD told us he was, and they always talked about how great he looked in camp, bla bla bla... We baught it, hook, line and sinker. More often than not, the guys were mediocre at best. From everything I saw of Edwards over the years, he was a stiff.
Rubes Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 I know, since when was the injury to Edwards ever considered a "key" defensive injury? Somehow I doubt we would have performed any differently.

Tucker's play was an important part of the success the OL experienced in the second half of the 2004 season. Then he got injured in the offseason. Instead of putting him on injured reserve, TD released him. He healed, and the Patriots wisely picked him up. Bennie Anderson is currently atop the Bills' depth chart at LG.
Rubes Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Thanks for reminding me. Please tell me we draft at least TWO guards this weekend.

Once Henry was benched, the offense (and the Bills record) improved considerably. Mike Williams actuallly had a few good games, and Tucker was approaching "good." He played with a mean streak, and he was smart. We also got production from CV when he wasn't injured. Once the 04 season was over, TD made every stupid move one could imagine, and flushed a team with promise down the toilet.

Cause whether you liked bledsoe or not defenses would respect his arm enough to know he can get the ball to any receiver on the field, The run blocking was good, pass protection down the stretch was great something like 13 sacks allowed in the last 9 games of 04. The defense played great especially in the 2nd half of games albeit against not so great competition, but you play who you play. The team did not need to be gutted heading into 05. Some minor adjustments and we could've competed last year, now we're back to square one heading into this draft.
Mark VI Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 The best Defensive player in the NFL last year was Pittsburgh Safety Troy Polamalu. The 2nd best guy wasn't even close. Paul Zimmerman can now return to his pod for his next adventure into space.

Once the 04 season was over, TD made every stupid move one could imagine, and flushed a team with promise down the toilet. Exactly. He seemed to think good offensive linemen were a dime a dozen. That's why he released Tucker instead of waiting for him to return from his injury. Releasing Bledsoe in favor of an unready Losman wasn't exactly a stroke of genius either. I'd say the McGahee upgrade over Henry was one of the reasons for the Bills' improvement on offense. The others were these: - The offensive line gelled - The offense as a whole adapted to the new system - The defenses we faced early in the year were really good, making everything look worse than it was - Tucker did a much better job at LG than that ex-Raven that started there earlier in the year
