Franken at the Church

Recommended Posts

Air America host Al Franken will be doing his Air America program live from the Church of Ani DiFranco at Deleware and Tupper this coming Monday. He'll have as a guest Al Ulthman from the best weekly paper in town the Buffalo Beast. Tix aren't that difficult to come by if you sniff around.

Two years later and Air America is still going which really must bewilder the far right.

And on a funnier note the next day Pat Buchanan will be debating ACLU president Nadine Strossen at Daeman college right across from that old armpit Amherst Central.

You'll have plenty of seats to choose from. I saw the little pipsqueak walking in Sacramento about 3 weeks ago. He appeared a a little art theater (saw it on the marquee) around the corner from where I had a job. The place was one of those that maybe held a few hundred at the most. Sure didn't see a big stream of people coming out after it was over. I was waiting for the client I was supposed to meet and Franken came walking by, maybe about 20 ft away. He is only about 5'5" and is as heavy as he appears on TV (the TV doesn't put any weight on him).

I would have yelled something about him harassing the local conservative radio station talk show host, but I didn't know if the client I was meeting was nearby (had never met them), so I held my tongue. He was heading to the state Capitol a half block away to schmooze with the slimy dems for lunch.

Franken is nuts. He was on Hannity and Colmes and after it was over, he chased Hannity around yelling at him. They had to get security to escort him out. Melanie Morgan, who is on the conservative station in SF (KSFO) in the morning, appeared with Franken on Bill Mahre's show when it was on ABC. He was chasing her around yelling too. He somehow got a hold of her home phone# and started calling her and trying to argue with her at home. She threatened to get a restraining order and he backed off.

Hell, Pat Robertson and CBN are still going strong after as many decades.  Both simply prove that there's always a market for catering to fringe lunatics.

Even as one who is on the left, I can't listen to Al Franken, he and Anne Coulter are two that deserve each other. They both make my skin crawl...listening to their voices is like scrapping a chalk board. Yeesh...

You've obviously never heard the golden-throated melodious tones of Lynn Samuels.

Franken packed the place but the show itself was hit and miss. As Franken does on his other tour stops he starts the show with a brief history of the town then relies on local guests the rest of the way. He started out with Eyal Press who wrote a recently acclaimed book about his experience growing up in Buffalo with a father who performed abortions during a nutty period circa 1992 when anti-choice zealots were trucked up to Buffalo to block clinics. Next was a very dull mayor Byron Brown, followed by the neocon congressman Brian Higgins (who was greeted with boos and chants of "warmonger"by some members of the audience. All in all kinda boring but worth a laugh.

Standby for the most courageous American out there Cindy Sheehan at Kleinhans (where both Bush and Cheney have spoken previously-oh the irony) June 17th.

A major difference is that I'd do Coulter.

Where is she appearing? In the ladies room? Who is she going to latch on to there like she did to Jessie Jackson in Texas. Thought she was going to hump his leg right there in the ditch.

Buy a dictionary, nitwit.  Looney doesn't start with a "c".

"Nitwit"? Why Derwood how thoughtful of you.

I love how somehow you can call me a "nitwit" and yet you're the one who actually fell for my "Whiskey Dick" monicker by PM'ing me thinking I was DC Tommy boy. I wasn't sure whether to be flattered or insulted.

It just proves you can be a cloyingly condescending libbertearuhn-looking down your nose at everyone else-and still be as thick as sh--.
