Ned Flanders Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 Yeah, I know, the Yankees rule, the Sox suck...or is it the Sox rule and the Yankees blow? Whatever.... But today at 5:00 PM EDT, Politicos here in DC will announce that the Expos are moving here...to play at RFK for three years, then move to a brand new home not far from the capitol. As an O's fan from Rochester, I'll still make the 45 minute trek a couple of times a season to go see Angelos' Underachievers...but it's going to be nice to have a team here we can call our own. Bring on the Senior Circuit!
Mark VI Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 When has it ever been a great day to be in D.C. ???
Steven in MD Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 When has it ever been a great day to be in D.C. ??? 49165[/snapback] Attendance at RFK will be great...then for the first 2-3 yrs at the new park (because it is new) will be great...then people will realize....they built a stadium on the Anacostia.
stuckincincy Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 Somebody on ESPN suggested a name - the D.C. Comics...
gantrules Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 Congrats DC. If Frank Robinson stays as manager and they can pull in some revenue the Expos-Senators should be competitive within a few years.
nobody Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 Please MLB - don't call them the Senators! Give them a different name!
VABills Posted September 29, 2004 Posted September 29, 2004 Might be something interesting with the announcement from my sources. The rumor is Baltimore may switch to the NL and the new DC team becomes an AL team. Again very much a rumor from a semi-reliable source. Not sure why Angelos wanted that but that was what he requested.
