Buftex
I actually liked Mel's picks for us atleast as much as the ones you provided. 663364 I would be happy with either of these draft scenarios, though I woudln't be thrilled if the Bills burned one of their two third round picks on Maurice Stovall...it seems like the Bills have enough WR's right now. Early in the the third round, there should still be lots of talent to chose from. We have more needs than another WR at this point....
frogger
why do I keep hearing that we have enough talent at Wr, after Evans we have no talent at WR. Price has one good eye, couldn't make it in Dallas last year. Davis-has been a bust in the pros, evan the game he tied the record for the longest catch (at 99 yards) he couldn't break the 100 mark (1 catch for 99 yards) Josh reed-improved last year, but was at the end of his first contract. Roscoe-he's 5'8" 160 pounds, he is not Hall, Smith or Moss-he is Roscoe and he is small, and he can not get off of the line. Fast Freddie-funny thing is he is neither, his name really isn't freddie and he is not fast. aikens-still looking for the talent, great special teamer. That said, I'd be happy with Stovall in the 3rd.
MartyBall4Buffalo
It might have something to do with the fact we have 9 wr's currently on our roster. I dont mind drafting a wr but I'd at least wait till day 2. We can get much better players then stovall in rd

#1TN Bills Fan
I like many of your picks, except for the 73rd overall. I think Mel is right- we need to take Stovall with that pick. I'm telling you, he is the perfect replacement for Moulds! I think he's the best receiver in the whole draft!! GO BUFF!!
1billsfan
Ok, can someone tell me why this guy has slipped this far???? 63. Seattle Mathias Kiwanuka, DE Boston College If he's there in the second Marv had better pick him and tell the high-motors Denney and Kelsay to drive on over to the bench! Orton's Arm
Best post this week, although I have to add an "if we think that QB at #8 is better than the other players". I think that trading down is going to make sense since Ngata, Justice, or Bunkley will be available after #8, so why not get some extra picks? Perceived value controls whether we can trade down, so if another team perceives Cutler to be worth more than we do, trade down with that team (and hope our perception is right). Our value projection controls who we pick at a given spot, so if we stay at #8 we should pick the best player available, which would be any of the five you listed, but if they are gone COULD be a QB. But if we can't trade down, we have to decide if we think Cutler is a better football player than Bunkley or Ngata or Justice or Huff. I'm not sure it is 100% certain, and if it isn't clear I'd lean away from QB (faith in Losman) and to the lines. But only if I honestly think that player is better than Cutler (in value over replacement player, to borrow a term from baseball). But I see our best move as picking one of your five if they slide, or trading down (not too far I hope) for a Cutler-happy team and still getting one of the players we target. 663410 Thanks for the compliment. I agree with everything here except the Losman part.
Sisyphean Bills
I wouldn't say Brodrick Bunkley is clearly better than Haloti Ngata. That's a little premature, Jack. Both of them had one very good college season last year. Both of them have had leg injuries. Both of them are strong freaks. Both of them need to improve their techniques to be solid NFL players; talent alone will not get it done. Brodrick is not perfect. I've seen him disappear in games. He's a smaller NG who makes up for his lack of size with quickness, but against cat-quick lineman he loses the initiative and can be neutralized. Anyway, I like Kiper's mock draft. Elvis would be an interesting pick. That guy was a sack machine at Louisville.
Ramius
Here is the problem though, you're asking me to ignore the fact that Bunkley didnt produce until last season, that he was...essentially...a glorified back-up at FSU because he couldnt crack the top talent there. You're asking me to ignore the injuries, the torn ACL and MCL in the same knee. You're asking me to ignore the lack of size and how he might struggle with the bigger OGs and Centers he'll see in the NFL. Instead, I'm supposed to be happy that he had ONE good season, that just so happened to be his last? I'm not advocating Ngata by the way either, and the Wadsworth comment was made in terms of the effort that he gave once he reached the NFL. I just dont see that much of a gap between Ngata, Bunkley and the rest of the DT field in this draft...so why waste a #8 overall pick on one when we could easily get a solid starter in the 2nd or possibly even 3rd round that are essentially equal talent? Ngata has his faults, but so does Bunkley...both of which scare me off either of them. I understand as an FSU fan you're obligated to give the guy some love, but I just dont want to take a chance on someone with SO many question marks over his consistency and talent translation into the NFL. 663382 Coming from another 'Nole, i also think you are way off on your assesment of bunkley. the guy was an extremely disruptive force down here at FSU, and prior to this year, was part of a DT rotation. He'd be much better than the tub of goo from oregon. That being said, with the amount of DT talent in this draft, i really hope we take Huff or Davis with our #1. BuffaloBilliever
Gotta love McNeill, I'd be thrilled with him, but with the re-addition of Fearless Peerless I honestly believe that Marv has no interest in early-round Recievers. Stovall would be HUGE, but I would LOVE to have Martin Nance instead. I'm gonna give the big no to O'Callaghan, he's a great athelete and could be the second or third best tackle out there, but he's injury-prone and that'd be a bust off the bat. Darnell Bing would be nice, but Daniel Bullocks would be a better fit IMHO, he's a talented player with speed and size who can also make the big hits if he can get his head in the right place every down. However, until the line and QB position is solidified, it wouldn't matter if we had Randy Moss and Terrell Owens (on their best behavior) runnig routs. I am pretty sure Evans is a stud, Price may be underrated (I rarely say that about anyone!) by Bills fans, and Davis kind of intrigues me, and Reed, I believe is going to have a solid season. Parrish, Aiken and Freddie do nothing for me. I hope I am wrong, but I think Parrish was one of the worst Bills draft picks of the Donohoe era. Also, this draft seems the most shallow at the WR position. I wouldn't be shocked if Stovall was picked in the second round.
Tcali
The Bold article below is Mel Kiper's latest 4 round mock draft that he did on April 12th. I like some of the picks he made for the Bills, but I thought I would change a few things, but only change players that Kiper has being picked after we pick. Here is my mock: 1st round (8): DT Brodrick Bunkley (Kiper has him going 8th to us) 2nd round (42): OT Marcus McNeill (Kiper has him going 49th to Dallas) 3rd round (70): OG Charles Spencer (Kiper has him going 78th to Cleveland) 3rd round (73): S Darnell Bing (Kiper has him going 89th to Carolina) 4th round (105): DT John McCargo (Kiper has him going 123rd to Cincinati) If this happened I would die in happiness!!!!! http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft06/ins..._mel&id=2405172 With the NFL draft two weeks away, the one hot spot in the first round remains with the New Orleans Saints and second overall pick. While I still have North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams going to New Orleans, the outlook of the first round could change significantly if the Saints trade the pick. My first-round projections remain nearly the same, with the one newcomer being NC State defensive end Manny Lawson. Overshadowed by Williams at NC State, Lawson had a very good senior season then performed exceptionally well at the NFL scouting combine. Right now I am projecting the Jets will use their second first-round pick on Lawson, where he will be used as a pass-rushing defensive end/outside linebacker. New this week are my projections for the second, third and fourth rounds. You will be surprised to see some players initially projected as first-round picks have slipped to the second round in recent weeks. 1st Round | 2nd Round | 3rd Round | 4th Round First-Round Projections 1.
