Yes, i've tried google but have yet to find what I need.

Heres my problem. First off, I have absolutley no problem getting to or gettin a good nights sleep. However, for the past year or so I regularly wake up on my stomach, with one or both of my arms just in pain from having slept on them for most of the night, or with them above my head. This pain can continue on until 2 or 3 in the afternnon. My regular doctor believes i am prolly doing something to my nerves, as I am experiencing numbness on alternating sides of my upper torso, from my face down through my arms . He wants me to go to a specialist, but thought I'd try the board first.

Long story, I know, but does anyone know of any kind of aid that will force you to sleep on your back.I really think that is my only problem.

And yes, i will continue to search, and maybe someone could just suggest differant serach terms.

TIA

put a rock on each side of you, that way when you turn over you will be on the rock and it will make you turn back to your back or side . saw that on a sleep disorder show . do you have a sleep disorder center around your area ?

That just might work. Am not sure if a sleep disorder clinic is covered, and being the male and the Dr that I am, thought I would try a home remedy first.

Never thought of that, I will have to ask if she would, pretty please, grant me that one favor, only if I perform to her staisfaction of course :P

Now a serious answer...They say that sewing a tennis ball into your PJs (only works if you wear PJs) will work. I've always heard people talk about sewing them in the back so that they have to sleep on their stomach (snoring problems), but you could do the reverse and sew it into the front.

Yep, this is the key.....there is a device that actually straps said ball to your torso so that you'd wake when you turned over onto your back, as Beerball said. The other thing you could try is a memory foam mattress. I bought one last fall and it's done wonders for me. I used to be the sort of sleeper who'd start in one position and then by morning end up in some crazy way in the bed. On this mattress, once I get into a position I like, I wake up in that same position more often than not. It's really quite amazing. I did a lot of research on the various beds before I bought one, and I went with the 'deluxe' model from www.bragada.com They also sell toppers if you aren't wanting to replace your entire mattress. I'd try Beerball's suggestion first, though.

Actually the memory foam mattress thingy really works wonders. And you don't need to invest in the really expensive thing. Assuming you have a decent mattress already, just buy the two inch memory foam topper (available at Sams Club for around $120). It just goes on top of your regular mattress.

I've found (through experience) that a softer, good quality mattress can work wonders for sleeping or position problems. And sleeping on your back isn't much better. On your side is supposedly the healthiest. On your left side helps your blood pressure.

Yeah, the memory foam toppers are great! I got a 2 inch one from Overstock.com for about $100 not too long ago. Much better than the feather top ones, I think.

Thx for all the replys, I just may try this. But sleeping on my left side is my main problem. 75% of my numbeness comes on my left side, which obviosly freaks both the doctors and me out, as I have already had an episode with heart arythmia(sp) and the cardiologist and GP both keep on me bout it.

Anyway, thx all for the suggestions
