I'm going to assume that the USC guys are picked before us and are off the board.

People that I would be happy with:

Vince Young

D'Brickashaw Ferguson

Mario Williams

Ngata

Vernon Davis

A.J Hawk

Michael Huff

I'm going to assume that the Blls wouldn't be stupid enough to draft a QB in that 8 spot. But considering that they just dumped Moulds, Milloy, Adams and Williams then proceeeded to give Peerless Price a 10million dollar contract, maybe I shouldn't be so hasty.  :P

I'd say my biggest disappointment would be to see them take a QB at 8 when they already may have 3 viable ones on the roster.

After that I think the biggest disappointment would be AJ Hawk.

Is this the real Simon? I dunno man - I'm usually agreeing with much of what you have to say but if Hawk fell to us, I don't care if we have Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher, I take him. I've watched several of his games the last couple years and this kid has the speed, instincts and toughness to be an instant impact. It's rare you find that athleticism combined with great awareness (see Rob Johnson) - I'd be shocked if he doesn't become a superstar in this league.

Unlike many others on this board, I'd be disappointed if we took Vernon Davis since it would mean we ignored trade down possibilities. Also, another 1st round QB would simply be deflating.

I'd be dissapointed with Ngata, happy with bunkley, justice, huff or a trade down. Just cause your a lard ass doesn't mean you're gonna be a good dt. Bunkley is faster, strong as an ox, and can also get interior pressure where as Ngata may be able to clog a hole but he wont make plays upfield. Where as Bunkley has the strength to hold point or make plays in the backfield.

I'd be dissapointed with Vernon Davis as we could get someone like USC'S Dominique Byrd in or a Joe Klopfenstein in the 3rd or Leonard Pope in the 2nd maybe, no reason to blow a wad on a te at 8.

I wouldn't be dissapointed with a qb as long as it's not Jay Cutler aka the next Kyle Boller.  I'd prefer not to draft a qb unless by some miracle Matt Leinart falls to us.

I'd be dissapointed with trading up. We have far too many needs to throw away picks, unless of of course it's for Mario Williams then I'll be happier then a pig in mud.

I'll be happy with  any of the following.  Bunkley, Huff or a trade down.

Bunkley is not that much faster... 4.94 to Ngata's 5.12 And that's with an extra 32 lbs on Ngata. Plus my only issue with Bunkley is that he wasn't talked about a ton (even though he went to one of the most prolific college football teams in the country) until his "after the season" workouts. FSU is one of my favorite college teams and I would still pick Ngata.

I wouldn't mind trading up. How many rookies do we really want on this team in '06? if we used all our picks and kept all the players we drafted that would be 9 rookies not counting UDFA's.

We did that last year.  :P

Really? Which leg?

Heck, I don't even remember who we picked in the first round last year...

I don't think he's awful or is going to be a huge bust, I just get the sense that he's a better athlete than he is a ballplayer and in the NFL he's just going to be another dime a dozen guy. That's not the kind of value we're looking for with a Top10 pick. In the Buckeye games I watched he received an awful lot of accolades (at times even approaching Bruschi-type melodrama) but I just didn't see the kind of substance that deserved such hyperbole. I actually liked his teammate's game better than I liked Hawk's and wonder whether Bobby Carpenter may turn out to be a better player provided he recovers from his injury. Not to mention that those LB positions aren't particularly hard to fill.

I'd just be disappointed to see the Bills use a rare ('til now) Top10 pick on a guy I think is overrated and who I see as a relatively average player at a position where there are a lot of other relatively average players available.

Conclusion:

No one is worthy of our 1st Round pick. They are all cattle, being driven to the eventual slaughterhouse.

We should not withhold our outrage and therefore commence the stoning ASAP. The names do not matter.

Sadly, there is no player (or players) out there to unite this board. Regardless of what the Bills do w/ the #8 pick, the following month will be filled with threads lambasting the organization for being such boneheads, while at the same time an equal number of threads will praise the foresight of the Great Wizard of Marv.

Such is life on an NFL message board.

(By the way, in answer to your question -- I say no to Ngata or any QB)

As I said, the only "can't misses" are the ones that will already be taken at 8 and the ones we didn't pick at 8. :D

NO:

Any DE except for Mario Williams. Just say no to Kamerion Wimbley or Manny Lawson.

Any WR in the first round. No Shrimptonio Holmes.

A RB under 218 pounds. I will board the LenDale train, however.

Manny Lawson is a great player, but probably better suited for OLB. I could see him being a great OLB in a 3-4 scheme, similar to Merriman. The guy brings it on every play, something that can't be said for many of the other top DE prospects. Since I don't see the Bills looking for a LB early on, I'd say our chances of drafting Lawson are slim.

I agree w/ your take on the WRs. One of the worst group of WRs in recent memory.

I think LenDale could be a very good pro in the right setting. If he's allowed to be a prima donna, he'll probably eat his way out of the NFL ala Curtis Enis (a sad story, even sadder for a Penn State fan like me).

Ummm. a S or a TE would be a luxury pick. Outside of OL DL I would only want a QB. If you think Losman or Nall is the QB of the future youre smoking grass.

A TE or a S would be a luxury pick but a QB wouldn't be??????

How can a TE or a S be a luxury pick. Who is our starting TE and S?

TE

- Royal? he is a blocking TE that was brought in to help with the o-line

- Everett? He was a third rounder that can't stay healthy and was looking like a project to begin with

Yeah stay away from Davis cause we have those 2 Pro Bowl TE's

S

- Milloy? he was our starting S last year and he is gone.

- Coy Wire? 'nough said

- Bowen? May be no more then a backup

- There was another just recently brought in that may be able to compete for the job, but will probably end up as a back-up

Yeah stay away from Huff too cause we have too many starting caliber Safeties

Definitly bring in another QB though, Holcomb sucks, JP sucks (after 8 games in the Pros), Nall sucks cause he was the the third stringer in GB
