Mile High Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 1997 international competition between Russia and Canada. Wow! Hockey fight
slothrop Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 NOt as good as the one posted before where, after a huge brawl, the bloodied bald guy gives the throat-slashing sign, throws his stick, and then runs away behind his team.
ans4e64 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 man that is just disgusting, i cant believe......... JUST kidding AD lol
millbank Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Don Cherry Debates the fight Canada at the time were going to a gold medal, the Russians were out of contention, it was said the Russians started the fight to get the Canadian team suspended and also out of the medals. Team Canada coaches at the time were Bert Templeton and Pat Burns, they made no apologies for sending their guys over the boards as there were two and three Russians on one Canadian guy. I remember I seen it. After the incident Don Cherry and Brian Williams had a classic confrontation with Williams taking the same tact as Farber did. Cherry was right they had to go over the boards , they just couldnt watch a team mate being beaten by three guys. imo
Kevbeau Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 1997? Goalie equipment looks older than that. Vintage even. None the less, the best part is when the announcer says the crowd is chanting "We love hockey!" as the teams beat each other senseless.

Kevbeau Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 it was 1987 658982[/snapback] Seems about right. However a brawl like that is timeless.
