Lurker
But if "current fiscal year cash flow" has no impact on the value of a franchise, why would revenue sharing matter to a new owner? He's still going to get 1 of only 32 franchises available. 657942[/snapback] He has to put a team on the field. Hopefully, it would be a competitive one with FA signing bonuses paid out of cash flow (rather than the owners own capital) comparable to what the Snyders and Jones can offer. Would you rather pay $700 million for a team and receive $10 million/year in "free revenue" from the other owners or pay $500 million for a team and have to make up the additional $10 million/year out of your own capital? If you can make a better return on the $200 million in savings you should prefer to pay it out of your own capital and take the tax breaks on the operating loss in addition to looking like you are sacrificing for the community. Obviously if you currently owned the team, you would prefer to receive the $700 million since you won't be responsible for the $10 million in future years. socalfan
So we have circle, lurker and kelly all discussing the finer points of Florio's version of what the revenue sharing agreement and qualifiers are. Wouldn't it be a whole lot better to assume Ralph got what he presented to the politicians from the NFL offices and now wait for the NFL offices to comment on what Ralph's complaint is? Or are you thinking that Ralph just makes stuff up like this then gets politicians involved to a point where they will be very embarassed if Ralph made it all up. The shots have been fired, let's see what the NFL returns.
