bills_fan Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 After reading JoeF's thread about Marv saying that we needed Mould's cap money to continue upgrading the lines, I looked around at some of the free agents left, here's what I would do.... Sign UFA DT - Grady Jackson - He's not getting any offers, so I don't think that it will take a Pat Williams-type of deal to sign him. He's huge and will command the double team, leaving Triplett as the one-gap guy. He'll also keep the opposing OL off our LBs. Sign RFA G Vince Manuwai - He's at the 3rd round tender, which is high, but he's only 26 and really poised for a breakout. Very strong as a run blocker and can hold his own as pass-blocker. Since we'll be looking for a G in the first three rounds anyway, I'd rather get one with 3 years experience, who is ready to take his game to the next level, rather than the if-come draft pick. Sign UFA DE Lance Johnstone - He's not young (32) and more of a 3rd down pass rush specialist, but in limited snaps with Minnesota the last 3 years, he's had 8, 11 and 10 sacks, respectively. He could be used in place of Kelsey or Denney on passing downs, opposite Schobel. He also wouldn't cost a whole lot. These signings are reasonable, and would allow us to use the #8 on BPA, be it Huff, Davis, Ngata or Winston Justice. There aren't many tackles left out there, but this would help the lines considerably. We would just have to use one of our 1st two picks on a T.
Tipster19 Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 1) Grady Jackson failed his physical. 2) I'm a little comprehensive about OG Vince Manuwai, I don't want another Bennie Anderson. I was all for Anderson, but man he didn't turn out like I hoped he would. 3) DE Lance Johnstone? Hmm, that sounds pretty reasonable. I think that something along this nature should be explored. Nice suggestion.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I'd go after Tutan Reyes, the UFA from Carolina. Starter for the last two seasons, still young...would seem like a great fit in Buffalo. I think any DT improvement we get will be found in the Draft, there arent many options out there in FA that interest me at this point.
bills_fan Posted April 11, 2006 Author Posted April 11, 2006 Hmmm...I hadn't heard Grady flunked a physical. Did we give him a physical or GB?
