FightClub Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 This draft was done mixing the Bills' needs with the value board here: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5449026 1 Michael Huff, S, Texas http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...ichaelhuff.html I believe Marv wants Huff. I think he wants to start with a player with no character, off the field or injury issues. Also, I think Huff is the only player who truly grades out in the top 8 out of Justice, Ngata, Bunkley, etc. 2 Claude Wroten, DT, LSU http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...audewroten.html Of course I agree with all others that we need to work on the lines, and having drafted a safety with my first pick I have some catch up to do in the next few rounds. I start here with a top DT. 3a Jonathon Scott, OT Texas http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...athanscott.html Potential to land a LT prospect much later in the draft rather than over spending for Justice in the first round. 3b John McCargo, DT NC State http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...ohnmccargo.html We must land a starting DT in this draft. Between McCargo and Wroten, we set up that competition that Marv loves along with T. Anderson to start next to Tripplett. 4 Daryl Tapp, DE Virginia Tech http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...darryltapp.html Pass rushing specialist that may later develop into a starting DE. Tired of not being able to get to the QB on third down. 5a Fred Matua, OG USC http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr.../fredmatua.html I know I waited too long to pick a Guard but maybe Aaron Gibson will pan out. 5b David Pittman, CB Nortwestern St. http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...vidpittman.html Tim McGee-like, same school and everything! 6 Brad Smith, RB/WR Missouri http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr.../bradsmith.html My feeling is that at this stage of the draft if you can get an athlete like this, you take it. Played QB in college, listed as a WR, but my idea is to make him a backup RB. Of course we can also use him on various trick plays and he can split out wide as well after some coaching. 7a Damarius Bilbo, WR, Georgia Tech http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...ariusbilbo.html Again, by the 7th round I am looking for potential 7b Robin Meadow, OG Washington http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...obinmeadow.html Line depth or maybe camp fodder - worth a shot with our compensatory pick.
The Jokeman Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 This draft was done mixing the Bills' needs with the value board here: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5449026 657264 That's not a bad mock, my only issue is Wroten. I'd love him but not sure he'd pass our character test yet you covered yourself by taking McCargo too.
The Dean Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 That's a reasonable draft, IMO. I won't HATE it if we pick Huff in Rd #1. But, if we stay at #8, I think we can do better than Huff.
Ozymandius Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 That's a very nice draft... unfortunately, McCargo is a second rounder and Matua is probably 3rd/4th.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 No problems here if we select Huff...while I'd rather see us nab Justice, Huff has a lot of upside and would be a great addition to our team. The only thing I dont like about your draft is the lack of a drafted Guard on Day One. There are 4 soild ones, I think we'll get one of them for sure.
Dibs Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 That's a reasonable draft, IMO. I won't HATE it if we pick Huff in Rd #1. But, if we stay at #8, I think we can do better than Huff. 657270 I agree
Joe in NC Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 7a Damarius Bilbo, WR, Georgia Tech http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...ariusbilbo.html Again, by the 7th round I am looking for potential 657264 Do we really need another hobbit WR.
Gotta Dream Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 You certainly may have something. In the Marv and Polian era, they were big on getting shut down corners in the first round. If Huff can project to CB, he or Williams could be a Buffalo Bill.
vinuch Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I think with another injury to Evertte, if Davis is now there we might take him, to get that playmaking TE. I mean how long can you wait on a guy who hasn't played a down yet and the other TE on the team, I wouldn't call them playmakers. I didn't want to take Davis to start off but now he's not looking that bad.
Tipster19 Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I agree about Vernon Davis. I'd be happy with him or Huff. Here is some interesting prospects. The rds that I'd take them in should be realistic. In the 2nd and 3rd rds ILB Abdul Hodge and Notre Dame TE Anthony Fasano. In the 4th and 5th rds, I like Northwestern's DT Barry Cofield, Boston College CB Will Blackmon and Georgia S Greg Blue. With our last two picks in the 7th rd we should be able to select Michigan OG Matt Lentz (McNally likes like rd projects) and Grambling State DE Jason Hatcher. In the 2nd-5th rds I like these prospects, but I'm not suggesting to use all of our picks in the targeted rds on them, but only to consider them in these rds. I would like to take the last two prospects if they are available in the 7th rd. Here's some player bios. http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...abdulhodge.html http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...honyfasano.html http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...rrycofield.html http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...llblackmon.html http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...s/gregblue.html http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr.../mattlentz.html http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...sonhatcher.html
MadBuffaloDisease Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I can ONLY see a DB if the Bills trade Clements for a 1st rounder. Other than that, it HAS to be the lines, most likely OL.
jarthur31 Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 That's not news to me. He already said we need safety help. And O-line.
FightClub Posted April 10, 2006 Author Posted April 10, 2006 I can ONLY see a DB if the Bills trade Clements for a 1st rounder. Other than that, it HAS to be the lines, most likely OL. 657376 I can appreciate that but my e v a l is from a value standpoint Huff is the one worth the #8. I would have no problem if we get to #8 and Cutler, Huff, Ngata, Bunkley and Justice are all there that we might trade down to someone who wants Cutler (Ravens?) and then still hope to get one of the above. If it were, say, the Browns, that would put us at #12 with another pick and it might go something like 8 Cutler Browns 9 Huff Lions 10 Ngata Cards 11 CB Rams 12 Then sitting here at 12 we still have a choice between say Justice and Bunkley This is guesswork of course but the point is that if all of those players are available at #8 then we could trade to somewhere between 11 and 14 and probably still get one. It's taking a chance but possibly worth the extra pick. If we stay at 8 I think it's Huff.
tennesseeboy Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Assumning Clements goes I think this is a very good draft. Losing clements would have a major effect on our drafting and free agency priorities.
