I appreciate the enthusiasm, but writing letters, even if there's a deluge of them, isn't going to change anybody's mind in this situation.  They're either going to stay or they're not.  Nothing we can do about it.

Right idea, but maybe not the correct targets. City and county have enough problems of their own... and as Giambra pointed out, any city/county funding could actually be counterproductive, since it gets added to the Bills' total revenue (and helps drive the salcap up even further).

I think that's the idea Giambra's shooting for. Whether you thought their trumped-up "hearings" were grandstanding or not, baseball didn't get serious about steroids until Congress started muttering about MLB's antitrust exemption.

 

If NY's representatives in Washington start making noise, and find a way to put some pressure on 280 Park Avenue? Stranger things have happened.

 

And how can we sic Tim Russert on Tagliabooo? That, I'd pay to watch.

Dear Senator Clinton:

 

Today, in a press conference, the owner of the Buffalo Bills, Ralph Wilson, expressed his concern for the long range viability of the Bills in western NY. His message is the reason for my writing to you.

 

The Bills are an integral part of western NY. They generate about 33 million dollars in revenue for local businesses each year. When Mr. Wilson says that this revenue is in jeopardy because of unfair conditions in sharing revenues between teams in the NFL, I believe him.

 

ESPN news gave an example of the types of conditions that Mr. Wilson feels are detrimental to the future of the Bills. The one I found most compelling in its attack on western NY is the one concerning the sale of a team; the new owners will not be eligible for revenue sharing. This condition alone is sufficient for the next owner of the Bills to move the franchise out of western NY. The loss of the 33 million in local revenues would be catastrophic to the economic well being of the area.

 

As my congressperson, you have promised to represent the interests of western NY. I believe you should involve yourself with this issue. I request that you contact Paul Tagliabue, Commissioner of the NFL and urge him to involve all parties in the NFL with constructing and designing the conditions for revenue sharing. I also urge you to hold him accountable for the fairness of the conditions.

 

Commissioner Tagliabue has announced his desire to resign the post. I urge you to suggest the appropriate replacement is Roger Goodell, a member of the NFL and a western New Yorker who understands the needs and conditions of the small market teams in the NFL.

 

Thank you for your efforts in this matter.

I vote. Not that that does much of anything either, but at least I get the right to complain. As far as saving the Bills go you might call me a pessimist, but I think the story is already written on that and we're just watching the results.

im a die hard bills fan for 36 years ......and I SAY MOOOVE OUT BABY,I hate to say it but the city of BufFalo is POISON" i don`t live there so whats the differance to me.....LA bills sounds good to me !.yeehaa!.I just wanna win baby no matter where it is, as long as its a big market with $ and players want to go their and want to win ,unlike now!

Well I'm a transplant as well and if the Bills ever moved they wouldn't be the Bills to me. As a matter of fact I'd never watch another NFL game ever again. Which these days doesn't seem like much to give up.
