It didn't look like much, but how close he was to the net, and how he was able to make enough contact to get the puck to react like that, well it's amazing!!! Probably one of the top 3 goals I've seen! The quick description. Thorton and Jonathan Cheechoo are on a 2 on 1. Cheechoo takes the shot, stopped by Kings Goalie Garon, but Cheechoo gets the rebound. He passes it out in front, but it hops up to about stomach level when Thorton receives the pass. Thorton literally cross-checks the puck over Garon's shoulder into the top of the net.
Alaska Darin Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 Great goal by a great player. He's made the Sharks light years better than they were. Toskala only saw 14 shots last night. The talent level of the NHL right now is amazing. I'm currently batting around in my head how many fewer points Gretzky would have scored today than he did in his era, where the talent level and defensive schemes were light years behind what we're seeing today. Oh, and the Leafs fell even closer to the golf course!
