Arkady Renko
I am just curious. He has these stirring ads about how terrible it is here, yet I have my doubts that he will do anything to alleviate the main problem here: too high taxes. Will he solve things the same way he solves things as the AG? Will he threaten to sue any companies that cut jobs or leave the area completely? Seriously, the guy's going to be governor. Tell me why I should be optimistic.

Arkady Renko
I didn't have a chance to read through everything, but on first glance he seems to recognize the problem, I just don't necessarily believe in the solution. There's a belief behind what he is saying that the government can step in and encourage this industry or that one and plan the development of the city in "smarter" ways. You can succeed that way, but I have my doubts that you will. The government has in the past shown to be a terrible predictor of what will work in the economy. It is better to let true entrepreneurs the freedom and the incentives to succeed. To do that, you need to cut taxes and take the hit on spending. He mentions the downward spiral of taxes in that Syracuse speech for example, but then does not propose cutting taxes and spending. Perhaps I am wrong and this will work, but I think the solution is actually quite simple.
