PromoTheRobot Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Sorry no link because it was just aired on WGRZ. There may be something later. Tom Golisano was asked if he was interested in owning the Bills someday. He said while he was not thnking about it, since he considers himself part of the Buffalo community, he would be very interested in "finding out" what is going on, and be involved in the process of keeping the Bills in WNY. Not exactly earth-shattering news, but an indication Tom will be in the mix when Ralph's time comes. PTR
SHOUTBOX MONSTER! Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Not exactly earth-shattering news, but an indication Tom will be in the mix when Ralph's time comes. 653460 Tom Golisano is going to kill Ralph Wilson!?! Good to hear. He saved the Sabres and it would be great if he could do it again for the Bills if they get to that point.
PromoTheRobot Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 Great...now Ch.7 is promoting a segment with Vic Carucci saying the Bills could wind up in L.A.! Is it a real story or just fear-mongering? How could they even suggest the Bills moving when New Orleans can never support the Saints??? PTR
PromoTheRobot Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 Okay...Vic Carucci says the Bills will always be on a short list of teams mentioned as relocation candidates. (Gee, ya think?) If they leave, it would be in 3-5 years. Carucci says he's not sue what the state could do to help the Bills enough to be viable. A new stadium is brought up. The knock against RWS is a lack of luxury suites. Hey, RWS could be all-suites, but who would buy 'em??? PTR

MadBuffaloDisease Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Sorry but a domed stadium just makes sense. Forget sentimentality because it could happen that instead of being nostalgic for the days of open-air games, we'll all be nostalgic for the days when the Bills USED to be in Buffalo.
Crap Throwing Monkey Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Sorry but a domed stadium just makes sense. Forget sentimentality because it could happen that instead of being nostalgic for the days of open-air games, we'll all be nostalgic for the days when the Bills USED to be in Buffalo. 653525 Of course, we could as easily end up being just as nostalgic for those days in a domed stadium as in an open-air one. The problem isn't the stadium, the problem is that Buffalo's an economically depressed backwater. Building a domed stadium won't fix that - it might make it worse, if they have to find new tax revenue to fund the new stadium, and make the market less viable than more. The best plan is probably to let the Bills move. Professional football is a luxury WNY can't afford...like art museums, or a symphony orchestra, or libraries...
#41 Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Too bad the guy's a complete assbag. He along with the other 6 guys that own everything downtown will want to control all rights and not fork out a dime. Might as well have Ralph keep rolling through animatronics, like the hall of presidents @ Disney World. The Sabres will win in spite of him.

I was just trying to say that IF they were to take the plunge and build a new stadium, a domed one would have to be the way to go. And making it more family-friendly would also have to be the plan. The best plan is probably to let the Bills move. Professional football is a luxury WNY can't afford...like art museums, or a symphony orchestra, or libraries... I dare say more people in WNY benefit from the Bills than those other things. Beer at an art museum, symphony, or in the library doesn't go over too well.

Mark VI Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Tom Golisano is going to kill Ralph Wilson!?! 653468 Imagine the Pay Per View Pre-Order ! That would mean at least another 10 years here ! $59.95 . Where do I sign ?

Why people believe Miller is better than Biron is beyond me. but wrong forum, so we won't go there.

This is the first negative I have heard about Golisano...do you care to expound? Or are you just being negative, because it is hard not to? I am sure that anyone with as much money as Golisano has made some enemies along the way...doesn't always mean he is in the wrong. Personally, I see him as our best hope of keeping the Bills in Buffalo, and that being very good for WNY.
DPR4444 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 And I dare say that if a city can't afford libraries, it has no business funding a stadium for a pro sports team. 653536 no offense, but that's a little misleading. prior to the budget cutbacks, Erie County had the most libraries, per capita, of any community in North America. this was reported extensively during the county budget fiasco. a declining population couldn;t continue to support all those libraries.

Buftex Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Do you think that the departure of the Bills would be: 1) Good for WNY residents? 2) Good for the NFL? 3) Good for the state of NY? 653611 Looking at it simply: 1- bad 2- probably good 3- no effect, outside of WNY! When I lived in New York, and again when I was visiting New Orleans years later, I was told by two different people, in two different sports settings (a sports bar, and a sports apparrell shop) "I have never met anyone who is a Bills fan before" (in New York!!!), and "I almost forgot that Buffalo had an NFL team" (in New Orleans!!!!!!!!)
krazykat Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 A new stadium is brought up. The knock against RWS is a lack of luxury suites. Hey, RWS could be all-suites, but who would buy 'em??? Probably lots of people if the team can put a competitive team on the field. If this is all that we're going to get, who even cares about single game tickets.
