5 Wide Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I love this time of year....there's so many reactionary results.........like if the Niners love Davis then that means Hawk falls to us, I'm just really happy that we will be getting a really good football player no matter what at #8, or several really good players if we trade down.
mlj1972 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Yes we can say they are rebuilding, and we need to be patiant with it as fans. I do not mind us rebuilding through the draft either, because I would rather see the team draft well and develop their own instead of paying out big money on big name free agents for a quick fix. That looks very much like how New England has done it over the years by draftng well and developing there own players.

The Pats have been very good at getting role guys on the cheap this way. Since we did no little in the open free agency period, I am hoping for more of a move to shore up questions we have with FA signings that span 1-3 years to allow us to drfat and develop our own...

There will still be some values, I'm sure, but there won't be a surplus of them.
BuffOrange Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I'd say our chances of a Top 5 pick next year are are fair to good. It's easily the most pessimistic I've ever been about a Bills team entering a season since I started following them in the late 80's. Lets face it - we have no QB, a crappy OL, a mediocre WR core, a RB who clearly quit towards the end of last year, a bad DL, and no safties. We have a couple good corners and a couple of linebackers (one coming off a devastating injury), good special teams and that's it. If we win 6 games Jauron should get coach of the year.
apuszczalowski Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 We also got rid of a Head coach who could not game plan to save his life and the players were begining to turn on, Got a GM who is Dedicated to rebuilding this franchise from the foundation up, Got rid of most of the Dead weight aging Vets who were creating conflicts in the locker room, are trying to resolve the QB position the right way by having a competition for it, and brought in Youth with potential FA's. Keep in mind a new coach means new schemes and new ideas, and they brought in a GM and Coach players seem to like playing for. (not many players have every come out and said they would never want to play for Marv or Jauron, but many have said they would like to play for them again) I'm not saying they are going to be great this year, but they are not going to be the worst team. We still have not seen the draft yet, and training camp. Theres still time to sign some more players and put together a good team. They have the same chance of getting a top 10 pick next year as they do a low 10 pick, Teams can change over an offseason and they can change quickly. We went from one of the top defences to one of the worst after losing one player (P. Williams) and an assistant coach (Dick Lebeau, not 100% sure he was part of the caoching staff 2 years ago, but his influence was still their) Last year there was talent on that team, but they were a team of underachievers, and the coaches could not motivate and make them play to their ability. Hopefully this year that will change.
