Not making this out to be a BUSHBAD thread, it's simply a case of you never know who it's going to be. But damn, this one-after-the-other stuff really is disheartening. It may not be a big story by itself, but it certainly contributes to the overall negative image, and serves as a distraction for the affairs of state.

This is truly sickening, and to the topic this thread is being created about, one would hope that this case might make some in Washington wake up to the fact that online predation and sexual abuse of minors is epidemic. State laws up the ying-yang, most of them not nearly tough enough and centered around the joke that is 'rehabilitation.' For every one guy who's caught in one of these sting operations, there's many that are successful.

Link.

Think this might spur Congress and the SC on the broader issue of online law? Back when I was in school I read a piece that none of the justices regularly used the Internet and argued that the high court is going to be making laws based on something they personally know very little about. The addition of Roberts and Alito has probably changed that a little more for the better. These are going to be the biggest issues in the next 10-15 years.

NBC Dateline has broadcast a sting operation in each of the last three years regarding on-line predators. The latest was broadcast in Feb and they caught 50 men over 3 days trying to hook up with a 12 or 13 year old.

These 50 men all came to the kid's house! In some cases, the next one showed up while the cops were still arresting the previous one.

I am not one to watch a trainwreck, but I stumbled on this one night and couldn't tear myself away. The recorded confrontations when these dirtbags got caught was unreal.

This Homeland Security scumbag is unreal. Told the girl who he was, and what his job was, in the first conversation. My confidence in Homeland Security soars.

Oh come on, you worked here, and I assume have a clearance. You know damn well that there is only a couple of clearing houses for the paperwork on clearances to be done, and neither is run by politicos.

Yeh I know, still why wasn't this caught, forget about the Bush Incompetent comment, did that for public consumption, couldn't let my reputation sag.

While I was at USDA and on the hill every once in a while there would be a report of someone downloading porn while at work? Once guy at the Senate Printing and Graphics office was burning CDs and may have been selling them.

I guess these guys are so obsessed they think they won't be caught and when they are in the system for a long time most of the time they won't be? Still an assistant Secretary of Homeland. Incredible.

It wouldn't catch it if he didn't have a history. Also, looking at his position he probably holds a fairly low level clearance. Those are pretty well done off computer records checks.

BING BING BING, we have a winner.

Also, he probably didn't have a history of this with other Law Enforcement agencies, so how could anyone know? Lets just be glad they caught him before he could act on his sick fantasies.

Every type of government agency (Local, State, and Federal) has people like this in their ranks, sooner or later they get caught. Here in Massatwo$hits they recently grabbed a Mass State Trooper for the same thing, except he was picking up boys. When he went to meet the kid it was a bunch of FBI agents.

For people who are bithcing that the government is not dealing with this, it is one of the top priorities at USDOJ.
