Ich, all these mental images of catheters and wrinkly foreskin and making me want to vErp.

If it's a fifth I'll be disappointed that ML caved in. Im hoping Casserly caved in.

And I will agree with you T-Man, but I won't care so much. I am utterly thrilled by the 07 cap room that this creates!!!!! :w00t:

This draft is friggin huge. If we do things right, 07 can be the year in which we contend, big time!

I agree....assuming 1) we get the QB thing figured out and solidified by the end of the season, and 2) TKO comes back 100%.

Over on the Texans forum(houstonprofootball.com)they are saying that it is their 5th round pick, but it is not official.

Ugghh, come on Marv...not a 5th rounder, there is NO way the Bills can come out of this looking good to the rest of the league if they gave up a player like Moulds for a practice squad player. But to put minds at ease, I've been reading houstonprofootball.com for the last week and they would cry and scream whenever anyone suggested a 4th was more likely.

Absolutely.

Think of it this way...is ridding yourself of a player with a HUGE cap hit in the future worth getting a 5th instead of a 3rd??

I say yes.

My guess is that it was the 5th rounder. I think Moulds outpriced himself to the point where he had far fewer suitors than his advisor let on. Thus, it was probably a liklihood that there was going to be no market for him, if Marv didn't act quickly. Yes, I know we had the cap room to hang onto him, if no other trade offers came along -- but given that he was not going to play for us, why bother?

I hope you're right....but then again, we're talking about one of the best receivers in the game. That's not an easy hole to fill, regardless of our cap room.

I think Moulds is still a above average receiver, but one of the best, not sure about that anymore....I can think of several guys off the top of my head who are better right at this moment: Ward, Chad Johnson, Steve Smith, TO, Branch, Moss, Burress, Santana Moss, Fitzgerald, Boldin...

Not saying EM isnt good, just saying he is not elite anymore.

And I wish him the best. He was one of my favs.

More so then the compensation we received I'm now interested to see Lee Evans step up and see if he can prove he can be a #1 receiver. Big focus on the running game and a reliable target at te would help take pressure off. I like the idea of accquiring a 4th for moulds. Build the nucleus thru the draft, and depth through free agency. I think it's a 5th now.

I can't argue with that, though I think part of the problem is our QB situation. I think all of those players you just mentioned have a clear and effective starter behind center. I think Moulds still has that attractive combination of speed and power that isn't all that common in a wideout. If he lights it up in Texas, I won't be the least bit surprised. I just hope that Marv and Co. can bring us a suitable replacement, if not this year then next.

I wouldn't put Branch or S. Moss. I'm hesitant to agree with Steve Smith. He has another big year then yeah I'll agree with that. The rest I agree with.

Of course you are correct, BUT.....I think that we will have SOOO much cap space in 07 (and perhaps more early picks), things can work out really well.

AJ, we need to draft a bunch of strong, young linemen that can play football and give them a year to gain experience. If we do this, the wins will follow. :)

I agree.  A 5th rounder is jack.

Me too. The Bills had too much leverage in this to accept only a 5th. Oh well, nothing we can do about it now aye?
