Ghost of BiB Posted March 27, 2006 Share Posted March 27, 2006 NO Mayoral Elections The state is implementing an emergency election plan that includes polling stations set up in 10 Louisiana cities, a national advertising campaign to inform displaced voters, and an easing of voting rules to allow displaced residents to cast ballots. But civil rights groups say the plan does not do enough to reach out to displaced black voters. Fewer than 10,000 registered voters have requested absentee ballots, said Dale Atkins, who is campaigning for re-election as civil district court clerk. Would it be safe to say that the displaced voters are aware there is an election? And how many of these displaced voters will not return to New Orleans, having found a new life in a new area. That is the part that would concern me. If someone has taken up in Houston, or Atlanta, should they be voting for the Mayor of NO? How does one control that?
