Alaska Darin
Oh wait, Democrats use such tactics too? Two murdered Chicago girls would be alive today if Illinois had a ban on assault weapons like the one now stalled in the Legislature, Gov. Rod Blagojevich said Thursday in an effort to get it moving. One Version of the Story Another Version (Where the Suspected Murderer used a "9MM gun") Another Version, Where an "Automated" weapon was used. It's a good thing "banning" drugs has kept the inner cities free from them.
Ghost of BiB
Have to watch out for those automated weapons. I find myself chasing them under the furniture, through the hall...they're pretty quick.

I watched a few episodes and found myself going "huh?". I guess I just don't get it.
IDBillzFan
Regardless of anything, if my child was shot and killed in my house by a stray bullet during his 10th birthday party, I am afraid I would grab a couple of guns and just randomly shoot any thug who even remotely looked like he was responsible. Is this another aspect of American culture I've been missing?
ExiledInIllinois
About the two Chicago girls... I feel sorry for their family and realize what a tragic situation it is... This is not to take the onus of the perps who committed the act. With one growing up in the Englewood neighborhood (or other tough places)... Wouldn't your first job as a parent be to instill some "street smarts" into your child?... Number one would be to hit the ground when you hear shots being fired from a weapon. Don't let curiosity get to you... Stay away from windows when violence erupts? I know it shouldn't be like this but, it is. You can only control your destiny, especially in these situations. Not saying others things can be done to stop the nonsense with the one's discharging the bullets... But, 2 girls would be alive in the process. I am by no means getting all conservative on people... But, there has to be a certain amount of self-perservation amongst people and parents in this society. Most people are on auto-pilot and that is just a shame. I still put the fault on the perps... Please don't misunderstand me.

I'm just saying it is easy for me to imagine I'd start randomly shooting thugs until someone took me out.
ExiledInIllinois
Again... Not finding fault with the victims. But... This strikes me as odd: The party was supposed to start at 5 p.m. and end at 10. I know it shouldn't be that way... But, pride goith before fall... What the hell were the logic behind this? Even after one girl had been shot in the same neighborhood weeks earlier while peeking out a window.

Self-preservation (in this case your family) is different with many people. Some just don't have it... And that disturbs me.

No one was hurt, but we never heard anything. Scary...just think Guns mixed with any kinda of drugs or alcohol should be a felony, no extenuating circumstances and with a mandatory minimum of 15 years. And I would be agressive with it. I believe that gun negligence or on purpose punishments should be raised. Still no easy button to address this issue, however, no excuses DC. ExiledInIllinois
I love how you are so afraid of having a conservative thought that you had to add a disclaimer. 641313 Me too! But... In this case the perps are to be blamed first and foremost. My conservative thought disclaimer is because most people here think of me as a flaming lib. The real thing here is getting through the ordeal... Totally reeks of the "stop, drop, and roll" that is engrained in you as a kid if you catch on fire. I'd have a little more tolerance if this wasn't the second girl to be shot. I know the victims were trying the best they knew... It started with errors and spiraled out of control. Wasn't the warning sign... The boys hanging out in front earlier?... I would have been a lit fuse on their arse long before shots rang out. Indicators people, indicators. I know this is 20/20 hindsight though.
Ghost of BiB
I know none of this is really funny, but I can't help but think of Chris Rock in Lethal Weapon 4. "I grew UP on the floor...I couldn't walk until I was 6 years old"

Apparently not, especially when the thugs keep getting younger.

"I grew UP on the floor...I couldn't walk until I was 6 years old" 641333 That was my point... I know it isn't funny too... It is so sad. Fatal errors tend to excerbate the problems... That is all I am trying to say. I have always said that you can control the "many" over the "individual." The "many" in this case were the victims... The "individual" being the shooter(s). Call it screwy all you want... It is easier keeping these kids alive by educating their behavior... Again, I know it isn't right or should be like that... But it can be effective in keeping people breathing.
