I forgot to say fugg you in terms the filters would understand.. as$hole.

Not a barn burner with Skins-Cowboys, eh?

At least I'm having fun bitching at the officials. That early PI call on the 'Skins was complete nonsense...the DB had position on the receiver and was playing the ball when the receiver grabbed his jersey and pulled him down. If anything, it should have been called on Dallas.

Not that I'm rooting for either team...this qualifies as a "meteor" game, where I'm rooting for a great big rock to fall from space and wipe out both teams. But damn it, I !@#$ing hate bad officiating!!!

Guadalcanal, not Viet Nam

Interesting parallels.

I've always thought that the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was a better comparison than Vietnam. Superpower invades third-world country and installs friendly government, nationalism inspires resistance in country, superpower leaves and friendly government falls (though I doubt that Allawi will manage to hang around for as long as Najibullah managed to, if the US pulls out).

The US isn't going anywhere.

The one missing part from the Vietnam/Afghanistan analogies is the lack of counterveiling superpower financing & training the opposition.

I'm just guessing here, but I do believe that part of the war on terror that's not getting any headlines (thus missing from the thought patterns) is the continuing hits on the financial assistance to the terrorists and the underground financial networks.
