Thailog80 Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Is this a possibility? 627822 Yeah....if we get Pickett and Ngata.
Astrobot Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Triplett-Ngata is a very real possibility, however. If we're not trading our pick, it's nearly a lock. Look at the Draft Muncher sites and who they say we're picking at #8: Haloti Ngata (20 times) D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4) Marcus McNeill (2) Jimmy Williams (2) 5 others
Brandon Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 The Bills seem intent on filling their DT need through FA instead of the draft, so I don't think Ngata is anything close to being a lock for the Bills 8th pick. Quite the opposite, actually.

Brandon Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 I agree that they probably need two more DTs, but its clear from their interest in Pickett that they want to find their starters in FA. If they do sign another solid FA DT (and I think they will), they probably won't draft a DT until the middle rounds as a backup. Otherwise, you start getting too many resources tied up into one area.
bud8andbills Posted March 14, 2006 Author Posted March 14, 2006 COMPETITION! Will Triplett be a starter? And didn't Pittsburgh prove defense wins championships? Ngata and Pickett would be awesome in the middle. Schobel and Kelsay would keep the ends covered. Spikes, Posey, and Fletcher would further stuff the run and keep any quaterbacks on their toes. Clements, McGee, and maybe a good 3rd round safety makes the secondary good. Jason Allen, 4.3, fits good.

Pickett will probably cost a little more than that. Throw in Ngata at 8, and you've got close to $60M tied up in those three players and probably have three very good, but not quite Pro Bowl caliber players. Ouch.
BADOLBILZ Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 The Bills seem intent on filling their DT need through FA instead of the draft, 627859 As well they should, very seldom do you see DT's play up to expectations early in their careers. The light bulb seems to come on just about the time they are ready to cash in, like Triplett and Pickett, for instance.
