KRC
Two Washington Post articles, the first echoing everything that Ken and Monkey have posted, http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...6030902291.html the second echoing BiB's understanding of the political consequences by David Broder http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...6030902290.html The Post Even! 624032 I especially liked Ignatius' last few sentences: The ironic fact is that the UAE is precisely the kind of Arab ally the United States needs most now. But that clearly didn't matter to an election-year Congress, which responded to the Dubai deal with a frenzy of Muslim-bashing disguised as concern about terrorism. And we wonder why the rest of the world doesn't like us. Thanks for providing the links.
YellowLinesandArmadillos
I especially liked Ignatius' last few sentences:Thanks for providing the links. 624362 No problem, P.S. I heard on CNN this morning, but can't confirm from thier website that Dubai ports has some military operation contracts with the Navy, signed in the last 6 months. Look for that to break loose, here we go again! Forget COSCO, that is third tier.
EC-Bills
Reminds me of what H.L. Mencken once said: "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public." I would vote to add "and Congres" to the end of it.

Congress can find the time to meddle in the sale of a foreign company to another foreign company, but ignores the US Navy. Of course, somehow that's evidence of collusion between Cheney and Halliburtion, I'm sure...
Crap Throwing Monkey
And says Howard Dean in this morning's radio address on the topic: "America had a great victory this week in the war on terror." For or against the ports deal...does anyone honestly think this is a "great victory" on terrorism? !@#$ing stupid... I guarantee you, the Arab street hears that and hears "America had a great victory this week in the war on Arabs and Islam." And they'd be far more correct than Dean is. ExiledInIllinois
Question: Does it matter what the American people think?.. Right or wrong, isn't it important to honor that first. I did say RIGHT or WRONG. Just as in 2000... You have to honor what the people say and who they vote for. You might not necessarily like certain outcomes, as the last 5 years dictated... You have to honor the civilness of our idiocy.
