Typical TBD Guy
So while people have entire pot farms on their property in Tennesse, the government is worrying about violent video games. Nice. http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=42952 CW 625380 Neither pot farms nor violent video games should be the government's business. The Dean
are the electric bills and stuff open for them to look at? is it legal? 625274 You should figure anything you do is open for them to look at. And yes, you should be very afraid.

Worry about the government spying on you? I'm more concerned about some Joe or Jane Blow paying 20 bucks for my life history from a "detective" website. How about that Freedom of Information thingy? I still don't know why everyone is so freaked over that. I have many skeletons in my closet and I get looked at very close periodically, and no one has drug me off to the Gulags yet. Good reason for that, too - it's an interstellar message board. This spot is for TV watchers to whom American Idol is life itself, let's talk about it everyday. PPP is really fugged up too, but it's a less restrictive forum than this. As far as YET, I don't think that will happen. First, we don't have any Gulags, and second - I'm pretty good. Doubt they'd find me.

Fezmid
I know this is more PPP than "Off-Topic," but may I ask why? 625509 Not really PPP. My wife runs a drug rehab place and I've heard tons of stories about the clients that leads me to believe that there's nothing good about it. Of course lots of people say "Alcohol is just as bad!" and they may be right (heard tons of stories about clients screwing up with that as well), but just because we legally allow one doesn't mean we should allow both IMHO. It's a slippery slope. CW

Must be something wrong with the url shrinker. Here's the text: Court upholds "Bong Hits 4 Jesus" student banner SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - An Alaska high school violated a student's free speech rights by suspending him after he unfurled a banner reading "Bong Hits 4 Jesus" across the street from the school, a federal court ruled on Friday. Joseph Frederick, a student at Juneau-Douglas High School in Alaska, displayed the banner -- which refers to smoking marijuana -- in January 2002 to try to get on television as the Olympic torch relay was passing the school. Principal Deborah Morse seized the banner and suspended the 18-year-old for 10 days, saying he had undermined the school's educational mission and anti-drug stance. Friday's ruling by the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco overturned a decision by a federal court in Alaska that backed Frederick's suspension and said his rights were not violated. The appeals court said the banner was protected speech because it did not disrupt school activity and was displayed off school grounds during a non-curricular activity. "Public schools are instrumentalities of government, and government is not entitled to suppress speech that undermines whatever missions it defines for itself," Judge Andrew Kleinfeld wrote in the court's opinion. The court also cleared the way for Frederick to seek damages, saying Morse was aware of relevant case law and should have known her actions violated his rights.
