Stiffler Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Well, I'm humble enough to know when I've been B word slapped! Thanks for the info, although I still find BTG a little too "new money" for RW. 623444 "New money?" To be clear, you are using this same phrase that was used in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, correct? The one used by Rose's mom in Titanic? The opposite of "old money?" Wow. I didn't realize that term had made a comeback into current vernacular. Nor did I realize that Ralph would give a flying waste product.

What an odd couple.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Well, I'm humble enough to know when I've been B word slapped! That's mighty big of you. Thanks for the info, although I still find BTG a little too "new money" for RW. Hey, new money is just as good as old money. And it smells nicer and isn't all wrinkly! Kind of like the difference between BTG and RW.
Oneonta Buffalo Fan Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I thought his kids would take ownership of the Bills.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I thought his kids would take ownership of the Bills. They would, if he dies and still owns the Bills.
apuszczalowski Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 His kids have said that they have no interest in owning the bills when he's gone
BB27 Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I bellieve that his kids have publically stated they have no interest in owning the Bills when their father is no longer there.
Oneonta Buffalo Fan Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 They would, if he dies and still owns the Bills. 623798 Wouldn't that be the case either way? I mean, I don't think he would want anyone except his kids or someone in the Bills organization to take ownership of this team.
IDBillzFan Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Hey, RW's Grosse Pointe royalty while BTG's a blue collar self-made man, sort of like 'ol Leo DiCaprio in Titanic. What an odd couple. 623624 For the record, the irony of people discussing the current state of the Bills with the Titanic is not lost on me at all.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Wouldn't that be the case either way? I mean, I don't think he would want anyone except his kids or someone in the Bills organization to take ownership of this team. As stated above, his daughters don't want the team. And NO ONE in the organization can afford the team after he passes. Hence he needs to either find an owner to sell it to BEFORE he kicks, or let it pass to his daughters' hands, and then for them to sell it to someone (like Golisano). The problem I could see with that is that with the urgency to sell and settle estate taxes, the NFL could potentially manipulate the sale to someone who has no interest in keeping the team in Buffalo. I say that Ralph should sell the team to Golisano (if reports are correct that he wants to buy it) soon rather than waiting for it to change hands after his death. The question though is, when would he want to do this?
stuckincincy Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Here's how the crafty ones, B'gals owner Mike Brown and his dad, Paul Brown, beat the IRS out of estate taxation. http://www.cincypost.com/news/1997/brown043097.html
Fan in San Diego Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Damn, one of my dreams and one of my personal goals is to buy the Bills. I better get cracking !
seq004 Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 I think it would be for the best and that's not any saying I don't respect Ralph and all he's done for Buffalo.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 He could sell now and maybe maintain 10 or 15% ownership. That would still keep him involved a little Ralph may juast be pissed enough after the latest dealing with the NFLPA to say I'm ready to sell now.
Oneonta Buffalo Fan Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 If we, as the fans, pull enough money together then maybe we could buy the team. I got $5.OO in my pocket now. Now all we need is about $500 or $600 million dollars more.
Formerly Allan in MD Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Then the next question is.... Would you give up the Buffalo Sabres to keep the Buffalo Bills permanently in Buffalo? Because if Golisano buys the Bills, I guarantee that he will have to sell the Sabres. 623084 You guarantee it!
Formerly Allan in MD Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Remember though, he is a buisnessman first. The posters here would go nuts when he decides to run the bills on a budget less then the cap limit so the bills can turn a profit. Either way, when the time comes for Ralph to put the team up for sale, I hope a guy like Golisano would step up and buy them. 623143 What owner isn't a businessman?
